Handling for a resonable budget

Aside from subframe connectors.. and shocks.. what are the basics that a 3rd gen needs to be a true corber carver ?

I know these things cost money .. we all know these cars are an investment.. im not gonna cheap out and try to fab things.. just want resonable quality parts that last.

Im looking for a complete 'kit'

tnx

shocks are VERY important, as are good tires. with those two, even on a stock suspension you will fee a big diffrence. after that, do springs. then STB/wonderbar/PHB. then torque arm. after that, LCA's and brackets.

A good set of shocks and springs will help a ton. When I went from stock to the Eibach Pro-Kit/ KYB shock/strut combo, the car became absolutely insane in the turns compared. It could have been better, but you get the point. Rain driving got better etc...

Alot of people say that struts/shocks are the MOST important part of your suspension. True.

But if I was on a really tight budget, the best thing you can do for suspension (after SFC's) is to box in your stock LCA's ($30), buy a aftermarket panhard rod ($80 for lakewood), and a homemade STB ($50).

Check out my sig;
Suspension critiques are tough because they are influenced by what other mods people have on their rides already.

I would say that those 3 things gave the most dramatic changes in driveability.

I would suggest going to a junkyard and looking for a GTA or Formula Firebird with the WS-6 suspension, or an IROC has decent suspension too, or maybe someone on the board has them for sale. Grab the springs all the way around, and the front sway bar (check the rear, it might be bigger too) and steering box. It will transform your car.

Definately get some decent Lower Control arms. They make a major difference.

Good Luck

yep..I found my ws6 swaybars at the junkyard. Took me some time though (looked at like 30 different trashed thirdgens).

36mm hollow front and 32mm(?) rear. The stock f41 stuff was crap.

On a side note: I hate going to junkyards sometimes, because I hate seeing all the pitiful looking thirdgens out there. All rained in and beat up looking.

36mm front, 24mm rear. I love how my car handles with the suspension parts that i have, and i cant wait to get some rims and tires, hopefully 275/40/17s, i know my stock 15x7s are holding me back

right now $0. Im a broke college student so i wont have any money until the summer. And any money i have now is going to be saved for my vegas trip in mid june. I think im going to hold off on the rims and tires for awhile because the next think i buy for my car will probably a 350 cause my engine has 165K on it and i need something more reliable when i graduate next march and get a job.
