Tires? Kuhmo v. Hankook v. Visa
Okay folks, did a search and narrowed the choice down to 3. This board seems to be familiar with the Ecsta 711, but couldn't find much on the other 2. Any thoughts on the 3 tires below? I need a set of tires that will last a year and perform well in the rain...they have to be cheap, hence the selection below. I'll upgrade in a year or sooner if the financial situation improves.

I'm using the Kuhmo Supra 712 as the fronts, they are noticeibly stickier than the BFGs I have on the rear. I know they aren't on the list you have, but I don't think they are all that much different.

what size are you gettin? 245 50 16? cause i found that pepboys had futura GTX Super sports for 55$ a piece. i dont kwno hwo mcuh the kumhos are, but honestly i wouldnt put those on an f-body. my friend have had them on their hondas and they wear out realyl quick, and they dont evne have enough tq to spin their wheels. so imagine how long they will last you! lol

One of the guys in the local f-body club got 27,xxx miles out of his 711's and I saw him burn them off a few times at the strip so I don't think the wear is that bad. I bought them for my car and have been happy with them so far they bite decent at the track with a little bit of a burnout and perform fine for day to day driving.

Crap, overall the Kumho's get solid feedback...but I've stumbled upon a couple people with Crovax's reaction. Decisions, decisions. The Kumho's are only $56 a pop, so I wouldn't expect them to last too long, but i want to get at least 15k out of them.

We have been running the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's on my brother's 95 camaro for the past year and they still have about 80-85% treadlife left.
From tirerack.com, the 712's are $88 each for 255/50/ZR16.

not that many miles, but I have had quite a bit of hard turns and rain driving with them. Pretty good. I like em. Lets just say they are worth every penny

Come on, you know you want the Kuhmos.
Everytime someone says something good about them, you're like "Thanks!"
Besides, if you're gonna be burning-out a lot, no matter what you spend on your tires, they won't last long. But for normal use, the treadwear on an H-rated tire will be much longer than the treadwear on a V or especially a Z. So they'll likely last longer than you expect, giving you more than your money's worth.
Go get your Kuhmos, and you'll be happy.

Yeah, Kuhmos it is...for the price I can certainly afford to be wrong. Guess I'll have to keep her under 130 for a few months...

I just ordered a set of Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's and they are a W speed rating. kuhmo's
tire wear should not be a concern. If u have ahot rod u should b worried about traction. 6Large in an engine and u worry about $75 tires? come on. I live in ****tsburgh, pa, we have 3 months to create havok. I just ordered 4 kuhmo ast's for my 89 iroc, i will see what they do. i remember when the iroc's came out, my buddy bought one and his tires were $225/pc in 1988. my chevelle smoke-it in the 1/4. the first time i drove it threw the bends i was hooked, amazed at the traction. I drove a bowl of jelly, and he drove on the rail, amazing. plus power seats and a/c, back then that was not heard of.... and a kick *** stereo. blah, blah, blah, we'll see how these ast's grip.
