Spohns new products

A question for those of you in the know, or who talk to them on a semi-regular basis. Have you heard any updates on the STB, and tubular k-memeber a-arms that they are working on? I know i read they were suppose to be comign out in the beginning of this year, but I haven't read anything on their site. Thanks

Eric

ok. I really wanna get a STB from him since everything else i have has come from them. Plus thats pretty much the only suspension part I have left. Also i've heard the edelbrock one isnt that great of a product, and I wanna put nothing but the best on my car.

I hope it comes out this time the STB has been in the works for a couple of years. I want to get one and the Edelbrock is looking better and better since there is no other one that will fit a carbed car.

A couple of years? Great, didnt know it had been planned for that long. Well I guess there is no need in getting my hopes up this time. But there just aren't a lot of options for those of us with TBI. Maybe i will break down and go for the edelbrock...dont really want to though.

Yeah I have been hearing this sumer for at least 2 years maybe longer. IT was upposed to be a sealed deal when he switched to tubular SFC's, because now he had the machine he needed to make it. Never made sense to me because his Lower Control Arms have always been tubular along with the torque arm. Who know maybe I am wrong and it will be this summer but I am not getting my hopes up.

Some of those other products like torq arms and other parts take time to develop. STB seem real easy to develop though. However, I know they are real busy.

As far as I know, there's no "machine" they have to make anything. They get the tubular bar stock and make the product by laying sized pieces in a "template" and welding them together. What they have to do is make a template for the strut tower braces

I imagine the STB is a bitch to design because of the really limited space and various intakes we all use, especially for those of us with A/C, so it takes some time to research and do it correctly. And as of what I heard last week, they aren't even doing installs for anyone because they are backed up with demand on parts that all they are doing at the moment is building parts and shipping them out.

Understand it is only Steve and his father working there (last I knew, anyway), they recently moved into a new building, and their popularity has exploded in the last couple of years. When all of us know that they are designing a new piece, everyone wants it, but it takes a pretty long time for them to go from planning to production for it because of all the work they do.

It has been my experience that the wait is always worth it. They put hard work and good research into their parts to have them done better than anyone else, in my opinion. I've known that they are designing these parts for a long time, but await their arrival patiently as I'm almost certain they will be the best option out there.

I thought I read the "machine" is for bending the tube. LCA's and most TA's use straight tube, the NEW trany mounted TA has a bend in it. NEW SFC's have bends in them. If he made a STB it would have a bend in it. That how I read it anyway.

From an e-mail I sent on 3/29:

I am a member of www.thirdgen.org and had heard that Spohn was going to offer a new strut tower brace for the third generation Camaro's and Firebird's. I was hoping to get an
update on the new product for my 1987 5.7L TPI IROC.

This is our busiest time of the year, so we haven't had any time to work on anything new. We do plan on coming out with a STB
sometime in the future. Thanks.

Doesn't sound too promising to me...

Are you talking about kandied91z's STB? Does he have an L03, I can't remember. The problem is, so few companies make them for TBI so we are really limited.

He is so far from an LO3 it isn't even funny. Just think of the best possible situatiuon for a 3rd gen and that is what he has. Simply amazing.

Ok...excuse my ignorance I know he has a very nice car on the outside and with show being his main thing, i had never really paid attention to the engine.

I don't know what all the flak is about edelbrock's chassis/suspension parts is all about. I've had their STB for carb/TBI cars on my car for over 5 years and it's doing it's job and still looks good doing it. I've also had one of their panhard bars but replaced it for an adjustable piece to center the rear after lowering. It's currently on my brother's 94 Formula for 5 years as well.
