slicks, sfc's, converter and a crappier 60'. wtf mate?

last year I was running 1.9 sec 60 foot times and I had a pretty much stock suspension except for lakewood lca's and some stiff shocks. I was running 27 by 10inch (cascar slicks) soo anyways over the winter the car gets a 200lb diet, sfc's and a set of 28by12.5 mickey thompson et streets. The slicks are roughly the same width, beacause they are measured differently.I also got a new tranny with a true 2400 stall, and now the best time I have this year is a 1.96. The car is way more consistant now, but I was hoping for 1.8's atleast with these mods. I have 4.10 gears, It kinda seems like im bogging outta the hole.

with slicks i would of thought way better than 1.8 60 foots and u didnt even get that. hmm does it seem like its spinning, like u said could be bogging for some reason; might need some better tuning.

did u mess around with tire pressure?
also slicks need a pretty good sized burnout.

Might want to double check state of tune

distributor advancing o.k.? set for all in by 3000 rpm?

it took me a long time to figure out my HEI began sticking up -
and I was having a poor set of runs

however I think the tyres may just be big and may need to a different launch sequence - more launch rpm and perhaps longer in 1st

the 4.1 and the low 1st gear 700r4 should be equal to the task, but you know our 1-2 shift loses some rpm

you could try and revert smaller slicks for comparison

hang in there!

well It was my old converter it was maybe flashing up to 2100 rpm... my accelerator pump was also shooting in a bit too much fuel off the launch. The actual 3200rpm stall I got livened things up alot and it now spins the slicks a fair amount. I think some of this will be cleared up when I put my battery in the back. Thanks for the help once again gang!
