When do I need Subframes?
Hi Everyone,
I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I'm looking for some advice....
I just purchased a 1991 Z28 with a 305 from my father. The car is in great condition, but lacks power badly. I want to keep it as original as possible, so the only upgrades I plan on doing are:
K&N Filter
Air Foil
SLP Headers
Free flowing CAT
Flowmaster exhaust
160 Thermo
I'm guessing that I'll get about 20-25 HP out of it.
On to my question:
Since I want to keep the car in mint condition, would I need subframe connectors to prevent any T-top cracks, body issues, etc?.... Or is the power still low enough to where I wouldn't have to worry about it?
Thanks for the advice!

SFCs are the first mod you should do IMO. You will love the difference they provide. They greatly stiffen the body and will take care of a lot of the creaks and squeaks your car has, especially a T-top car.

Listen to these guys. It's definitely sound advice. It doesn't matter if you have a four cylinder or a V6 in there. Power output is only one of the reasons you should add subframe connectors. If you plan on keeping the car for a while and want a more pleasurable driving experience, adding connectors is well worth the effort. I've owned my car for about nine years, and I should've put them on back then! You won't regret it.
Same as everyone else said. Do it now before you do anything else. Save your money, get them installed, and drive home in satisfaction that you listened to us. Unless your brakes don't work or something like that; might want to invest in that first.
They should have been installed from the factory.....
Your car will benefit from having SFC's wether you drive an V6 or have done a monster engine swap....Hands Down
A Strut Tower Brace is a nice compliment to the SFC's and will really decrease the amount of squeeks from the car.....

Thanks again for the advice everyone!
I'll go ahead and place the order this week then. It certainly sounds like it will benefit me in more ways than one.

you don't want to be like me. I keep putting off sfc's all week and then on race day I'm like "am I pushing my stock chassis to far?". Now I feel like an idiot couse I'm running a tpi on a 400 w/3.73 on a 2.01 short time and now I cant afford sfc's cause I need to do a trans.
