How Speed Bleeders Work
I just bought a cheapo set from Autozone to see how they work.
This is a simple diagram oh how they work. essentially there is a small flap in the middle that does not allow air in... only brake fluid out.
anyways, the diagram should be self explanitory but for the pictorially uneducated... the screw closes the passage via a compression flare. when slowly opened a hole in the side allows the fluid to leave through the top.

they work fine for one or two tries- What happens then is the teflon coating that the threads rely on for sealing out air will wear off and you will suck air back through the threads.
Earls Solo-Bleeds are a much better design. The spring is behind the threads, not inside the unit itself. So the threads never require sealing for the unit too work.

heres another pic.
as for the thread wearing thing... im still waiting for that to happen... its been 6 years.
i think its either a myth because it SEEMS like that could happen, or the people wearing it out are autoXers who change fluid 50 times a year.

I owned a set of Russells, They wore out the third time I tried to use them. Thats when I switched to Earls. Only expressing my experience with them.

you only need one number

Can you be a little bit more descriptive, there are three numbers there, actually 3 sets of three so 9.
and that doesnt follow the Summit part number syntax
