bumpstops?

with the new suspension i need to put bumpstops back on the car. anyone have bumpstops on their tubular front ends?

i cut the rears off to be able to fit the wide tires out back and still stay inside the fenders when it's lowered but i need a new location for bumpstops as well.

any suggestions of good locations front/back?

If I recall correctly, you run Coilovers.

Just simply run a shaft style bumpstop on your strut shaft. They are specifically designed to work with coilover clearances and reduce unsprung weight over an a-arm mounted bumpstop.

The best one on the market is Koni # 70-34-53-000-0. Its 2 5/32" long and will compress 1 1/4" to a compressed height of 1 1/32". Heres the progress spring rate increase as it snubs (this will progressively increase your front spring rate as it motions towards bottoming out-not a harsh impact like the stock rubber bumpstops.

compress........rate increase
1/8".................30 lbs
1/4".................45
3/8".................60
1/2".................70
5/8".................85
3/4".................100
7/8".................110
1"....................145
1 1/8"..............195
1 1/4"..............260

stock units will only compress aprox 1/4" and immediately increase rate to 300 Lbs- very harsh.

Koni 70-34-53-000-0 bumpstops sell for $14.05 ea @ The Chassis Shop in Michigan (800-530-9494) http://www.chassisshop.com/

very interesting and useful information........wish i had known that when i had coilovers. even explains how to determine coilover spring rate which i looked forever. very nice!

i'm running strut bags up front now and bags in the rear. i had to cut the "stock" bumpstop in the rear to fit the wide wheels and message the inner fender for clearance so i'm trying to figure out something new.

the front has been changed over to the tubular setup and doesn't have bumpstops on it???

any ideas?

also, couldn't find the bumpstops in their catalog?

call a few local shops that do air ride suspensions....they also would do tubular front end work on S10s, i know my buddy just drilled a hole in his and installed a bumpstop made for his A-arm. There's this guy in chicago area called "Dr. D's custom rides" that would know a lot about this. I don't have a number though, and i think he works out of his vans at peoples houses. I can try to locate a number if you wish.
