SSM Lift bars kit.....SFC ????

Hey I had a question for anybody that knows about southside machine lift bars kit. Can I take just the SFC out of the kit and just use the SFC or does it have to be a part of the package? I have this kit But no one around here will install it for me. So i thought i could just do sfc? what do you think?

i had that kit. yes, you can just use the frames, they are not that good though. i'll tell you why not one will install it (i had the same problem) welding to the axel housing for street cars is a no no. the trailing arm location is way to close togeather and doesn't give enough leverage on either side to move while hitting bumps and such. thus, causing the welds to break. i had it happen on my GTA. the arms came off on the highway after i hit a big hole. lost half the kit doing 65 down a main highway, lucky i wasn't killed.

the kit, however, does give amazing traction. i would advise against installing it on your car if its a daily driver. if its a weekend warrior, you could risk it.

Whoa! Oh well........ You made it sound like the sfc installed by itself is not that good... Why is that? Think I should go with another SFC like spohn hotchkiss??

Yes you can just take the SFC's. That is exactly what I did with mine and ended up chucking the rest of the kit away. The SFC's are great though. I think 2out_The_Left was thinking the other way around and just using the frames with no SFC.

If you have an un-used SSM kit I would resell it. They're not made anymore and you could probably get some decent cash for them. I know a lot of guys using (and wanting) them because they work pretty damn good.

I was talking to one of the guys at summit racing about this. They said SSM should be back in business within the year.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. In that case......Anyone wanna buy a complete uninstalled SSM lift bars kit from me. I will let it go for 400 buyer pays shipping. email me at daxnutt@tmail.com Thanks. If no one buys it then I ll just install the SFC's on my car and then later on down the road I might have the whole thing installed. For now my car is a weekend car and do some driving on the weekends. I wouldn't want to chance it on the roads hitting potholes and such. .

good choice. but remember, if you install the subs the rest of the kit is usless to anyone else unless they have the ssm kit and need new arms (don't see how they would, not easy destryoing those heavy things) or if they wanted to fab up something with them...

yeah you could use the frames then take them off to resell but think about this, you'd have to pay to get them welded in if you can't weld yourself then you'd have to pay to get them out or spend the time taking them out. the only way to get them out is to cut the welds or use a welder to cut the welds which might screwup the mounting locations or damage your floor. the kit is a great kit for the track, i would never use it on the street after my ordeal with it. and if you didn't know, you have to ditch your rear swaybar OR you can fab the arms to work with the rear bar. i would rather the rear bar for the street.

find someone whos building a track car to sell it to, its hookup is excellent. i would just invest in some other frames and forget the ssm's totally. if my memory is correct, the frames are notched to fit the cross brace. which means if you do install them, you'll have a giant notch in either frame.

BMR sent me a letter a few months back saying that they are re-releasing their 3rdgen frames this summer. i would invest in a set of those

on another note, has anyone seen the BMR panhard support that allows true dual exausts? WOW its awesome. leave it to BMR to make some good stuff. you can never go wrong with a BMR chassy part.

yes, the BMR stuff is great. they don't make a single bad piece. the service is excellent also, only place i know that called me to let me know the package will be 2 days late. i've always had luck with them and they are the only company i know that makes extreme parts like the track pack and that overkill rear sway bar. i'm contimplating selling my new BMR rear bar and upgrading to the extreme. wish you luck with your sale man.
