Transmission: 700r4 crazy beefed up one
Axle/Gears: ones with teeth
what rears fit out 3rd gen
i have an 85 z28 with drum peg leg and i want a posi disk rear for it, is there any other cars that i can look for one in other than 3rd gens. i don;t want 4th gen due to rim spacing issues.

No, unless you want to modify a rear from another car, but since you want to keep wheel spacing, I'm guessing you don't want to hack and weld.

Actually the rearend out of a Blazer S10 should work. bbtaz97 has a '93 and the rear is the same. As for spacing, I'm not positive, they may be the same. My 4th gen LS1 rear fit on my car perfectly, though kicked my tires out a little bit on each side. Doesn't look too bad though..

I do know a lot of the full size GM SUVs use the coil/multilink live rear axle, however I really doubt everything is in the same position

A S-10 rear WILL NOT work; it has no provision for the torque arm. The innards out of it will work in our housings, but the truck housing WILL NOT bolt into one of these cars, without a bunch of fabricating on something.
There's no way to use 3rd gen wheels on a 4th gen rear in one of these cars and have the wheels not get that silly rĄcer "skateboard" effect, unless you know of some way to make spacers with negative thickness; that is, spacers that take space out, instead of adding some.
