Kenny Brown Lower chassis brace.....

Anybody have it installed? I did a search and found a post from last year about it, but still no one has pics of it installed. Are these things even still available? If so, where did you find them? Kenny Brown's site is down. Thanks, Paul Moore

Thunder has them under steering supports. I was under the impression this went right infront of the bell housing

And $108.99, ouch

I checked Thunder Racing earlier this afternoon and I didn't see anything. I don't mind dropping $110 for a part, trust me I have spent a lot worse, we all have. If you really think about it you have probably, like me, spent $1000+ for heads, $3000+ for a rear end, $1000+ for upgraded brakes, etc. so $110 is chump change compared to that. But, I am a suspension *****, so if they make a part for the steering, body, or chassis, you can almost be I will have it on my car.

I've seen them before for around $95 through JDS performance and $99 when LPE used to sell them. I find Thunderracing usually does not have the cheapest prices, but they have a good customer service and reputation. Plus they are like an hour drive away from my house.

Deans bar is the way to go. It has LH and RH threaded rod ends on it so when you turn the bar, it preloads the subframes.

I think KB is the only co offering this part. Easy enough to make yourself, just get a threaded rod, some rod ends and some flat steel stock to weld mounting tabs to the subframe. Should be well under $100 too.

So this bar mounts onto the subframe between the engine and tranny. Your threaded rod idea sounds like it's pulling both subframes towards the center of the car. Is this correct.?

I was under the impression that the subframes twist but I didn't think that distance between them changed much. If I'm wrong here please staighten me out. Thanks.

Ben

No the adjustable rod would be so that you can bolt it up and the streatch it out and push on the subframes putting the preload on there makes the support more solid than if it was just bolted on

BMR steering brace

anybody positive that thunderracing has there listing wrong.....that it is not the same as the kb brace.......read alot of peoples posts that say they have had trouble installing the BMR brace......that it did not just bolt in easily.....had to be drilled.......could this be because in fact it is the same as the KB brace and it goes in the same place.........not in the place where the wonder bar goes.

Please post if you have any ansewers......i am waiting till i am positive about this issue before I buy one..

In order to push them apart you would need a pretty strong threaded rod. What diameter is Dean's bar and what is it made of.
I got some 1/2 inch stuff lying around here....

Thx

Looks like it's made out of the pieces that the 'steering support brace' is. Maybe BMR ordered more stuff than they could sell...
At what point is the strength of a brace less important than the weight it adds. Other wise our floorplan would be made out of 1/4" steel...

We need to stop this madness right now. A "wonderbar" is a steering brace. It is installed on the front portion of the chassis where the front swaybar chassis bushings/brackets attach to the frame. This is right under the steering box and the radiator. A "wonderbar" or steering brace is easily visible by the tabs that both face the same way and are a bit angled. The "lower chassis support" that KB sells is not a steering brace. It is installed by the transmission, behind the engine, under your seat. It is easily visible by the tabs that face the opposite direction. On top of that, the locations that either of these parts are installed are not similar. To try and install one part in the other location would be retarded. It would obviously not fit. The bottom line here is that Thunder Racing does not know what they are selling. They have a completely wrong description of the part. They should open the box of the part and read the instructions. Do not let them fool you.

Alot of people have problems installing wonderbars because its easy to get it mixed up and have the tabs at the wrong angle. This causes the bolts holding the wonderbar and swaybar mounts to the chassis just barely not fit right. I've made this mistake myself.
