What are the best 275 40 17 Tires for long wear and good performance?

 

I run the BFG G Force KDWS tire in 275 40 17 and I have been more than happy with the performance and life on em'. I belive the KD's are supposed to be better performers and I am not sure if the life is the same.

 

Kuhmo MX's are really cheap and among the best. FWIW thats what i want when i get my 17/18" combo.

 

You get what you pay for when it comes to tires. Goodyear and BFG make some of the best high performance tires money can buy.

 

I love my Firestones SZ50 EP - 275x40x17. Perform awesome and wear very very well.

 

LUVmy92: Do you get much snow in NC?
KDW's have much better traction than KDWS's and also have good wet traction compaired to the KD's.
KDWS is a snow tire.

 

Hahaha hell no we dont get much snow but even if we did I dont drive it in the winter time anyway! I had maxed out my spending when I got my new wheels and I forgot to factor in how much the KDW's were so I got the KDWS's. Im still happy with them but you can rest assured that will be the last "all season" tire on the car!

i had yokohamas avs db series and i loved these tires. great traction on wet and dry.

 

I just buying Bridgestone s-02 tires(255/40/17 front,275/40/17 rear).Has anyone experiense about those tires?

 

I've had a few sets of the BFG KDW tires and they are awesome.

 

i like the yokos i have , i mean their an 18 but their the same thing . Get the avs sport , i think those are the ones i have , they have a sweet tread design .

 

It depends on how much u wanna pay i bought the kumho escta 712's for mine and they were around 120 a piece for 275-40-zr17's their traction rating is as close to nitto's as u can get and they are cheap. And they last awile. Around here kumho's are a popular tire since they are the best bang for your buck.

 

If my Nitto NT555R's hook as crappily as my Kumho 712s did, I'm going to cry.

Don't get me wrong, the 712 is a great tire for the money...but they don't hook better than any other street tire..

 

I was tired when i wrote that. Maybe i exagerated a bit but they are better than a lot of tires that cost more than they do. I retract saying they are the ultimate tire but they compete well with the 200 dollar tires. Nitto's will be the next tire i buy if i have the funds.

 

Well...again, I'll agree that for the money, they can't be beat. A full set of p245/50zr16 tires installed out the door for $380 can't really get much cheaper for a "ultra high performance summer tire" or whatever tirerack calls them. They are one notch below the Kumho MXs which I was going to try next except I got this set of Nittos with these 17" wheels, so I may just stick with the NT555Rs from now on. 10-15k miles doesn't matter to me since I only drive 5-6k miles a year in the summer. I don't mind buying new tires every 2 years. I would NOT EVER consider driving in the snow with NT555Rs though..EVER. And the condition that one pair is in that I have, I wouldn't really consider driving them in the rain unless it was necessary and I'd be VERY careful.

 

Goodyear eagle F1's Great grip, but expensive. I don't put many miles on my car so I can't coment on treadwear.

 

I had some 265/35/18 and I will get some more had lots of dry grip and good wet grip and a very stiff side wall(road home on a flat doing about 80mph and it wasn't that much of a difference) but on a smooth road they'll ride like silk, a bit nosie at freeway speed but it not to bad
