k-member bottom pix for oil pan clearance?

Anyone have there car on the lift, and lay down and take a picture of the tubular (profab, etc) k-member? I need to see how far forward the bar is vs the stock k to see if my new oil pan will clear.

Not looking for measurements, just a picture if someones got one.

Its the same depth, pretty much same width. But its about 8 1/2" long on the sump part (front to back), and the slope is more gradual than the stock pan. Way more gradual. The stocker is clearanced for the y-pipe big time.

So I'll cut and remake the y-pipe to go forward a bit more, but I'm curious how much more "room" i have with the profab k-member.

you'll still have plenty of room.

take the stock K member.
take the leading edge of it... now place a bar infront of the leading edge...

thats where the profab/PA racing kmembers are.

Hrmm.. Sheet, really? Maybe I'll remake my y-pipe with 3" then.

Thanks

Is it then possible, with the profab k-member to unbolt and remove the oil pan with the motor inplace and undisturbed??

i havent tried it.

but i did it with the stock kmember by just lifting the engine a few inches off the mounts.

i recall it would just BEARLY not clear unless i did that.
so, if i was to take a guess, yes you could. you could easily. ive never tried it, but my guess is you could.
if nothing else, atleast you can get at all the pan bolts easier....

the only real benefit i see to having a tubular unit on a street car is being able to work on it. night/day difference, well worth it for that alone as the room is just outstanding.

For me it was Rack&pinion/Room/Weight in that order.

I have a 3" y-pipe with the stock K-member. Fits great and clears everything. It only sticks about a 1/4 below the K member or so.

Odd. On my car, I didn't have 3" from the pan to the k-member. Infact, a 2.50" pipe would rub the oil pan. Maybe the motor mounts were junk.

 I dont have aftermarket 3" y pipe. I made my own. That prolly has something to do with clearances being kinda "tight" but have enoug room where it clears everything.

Yes where the actual "Y" is now two 90° bends with a another 3" 90° coming off of that.
