i've been doing some lookin around on the net and i found a site that claims you can fit a 17x11 rim and a 315 tire on the back of a 3rd gen with the use of a 2" spacer. i was just wondering if anybody has done or tried this and how it went or looks

with some work and the proper spacing, you can fit 315 all around. LOL thats what i want to do someday.
anyway, i am not sure if you can get a 315 to fit with out doing any work to the fenders or wheel wells.
the 2inch spacer is for the 50mm offset rims. i hear that the 36 or 38mm offset grand sport corvette rims only need a 1.5inch spacer or so, possibly smaller

camaro - yes, 2" spacer...
beaware that there is two different back spaces availiable for the rear 17x11 wheels - one is 36mm and the other is 50mm ofset... the lesser offset needs less of a spacer...
however, if you have a firebird, be aware that i have found that between the outside fenderwells, the firebirds are a total of at least 2 inches narrower than camaros...
