Wheels dont fit...

I own a 305 TPI 88 trans am. Since I bought it a year ago the front wheels are the ones that are suppose to be back and vice versa.

When I got my tires siped for the winter the tire dealer put the wheels the right way round. Turned out, when I tried to drive off that something was not right. Their was a scraping metal noise.

Why I dont know, but it sure looked more beutiful with the wheals on the right way. So, we had to put them back on the wrong way.

Am I suppose to use any spacers?? I am confused.

Thanks.

Sam

the front and rear wheels are different. a front will fit on a rear but a rear wont fit on a front. the grinding you heard was probly the caliper scraping the rim on the front. if you look on the rim itself they say front or rear. if the car is a rear disc car i believ there is a 1/4 inch or so spacer thar should be on the rear but i think its just to level out the rims.

I realized that they are different I found this pic of a trans am online and loks like mine. I drew an arrow to show what i mean.

hmmm how shall i explain. right below the bolts their is a platform but the wideness is different on the front wheels. They are wider than the back....

Makes sense?

I have gotten two different answers from 2 different tire dealers.

I am sure their are a few in here who have a trans am with the same wheels

Could you please check and see if the wheels that have the wider platform on the inside as shown on the image above, are on the front or back of your trans am.

I would really appreciate that.

Thanks,

Deeper dish (wider area on the outside of the rim) goes on the front.. Like everyone else mentioned, "FRONT" and "REAR" will be cast into the backside of the rims...

Have same rims deep ones in front. These rims are a pita to have a quick rotate because they need to break the tires offf the rims every time. That part sucks.
