My badly worn tire
It's really making my day, look at my summer tires, here's the front passenger side tire:

Easily has another summer of driving left in it I think.
But look at my drivers side tire...

The wheel got unbalanced for some reason and it was this bad before I had it corrected, now the damage is done and I am told I need two new front tires(I mean you can't just get one of a different kind), which will set me back 510 USD, this really sucks.
Anyone here think this tire could be used anymore? Even a short while?

Is your will up to date? Keep a priest on standby whenever you go somewhere? How many innocent bystanders will you take with you when you finally make it to that big tire store in the sky?

I don't think that's a balancing issue, more like alignment. Either way, that tire's smoked and what kinda tires are those that cost 255bux a pop?? you can get fuzions for about half that or order some bfgoodrich from the tire rack, have them locally mounted and balanced for a lot less than 510.00

Thus we have:
1) Import cost
2) Customs
3) Generally higher taxes + VAT
4) Added cost in order to create profit for distributor
5) 245/50/16 tires are nigh impossible to find in Finland.
And yeah alignment was what it was, had it taken to a shop and they used these lasers to get it right again.
Next year I will get tires myself from the US and handle it all myself.
edit:
GAH, two accounts, two computers, need to straighten this out...

Finland! I didn't realize thats where you were, yeah shipping is pretty outrageous between here and there. I had to ship something out of country and there was like 3 of these long forms they had me fill out. Next time I'll charge extra for the time filling out paperwork!

Got the new tires ordered now anyway, could have gotten two Kumho for like 300$ right here though, but only general where available and those where the cheapest at 200 euros a pop, other tires went up to like 400 euros a pop.

If you have a better chance of finding 215/60-16 they would work also. Not quite as wide but my 91 ta came with them from factory and I have no problems with them and find the prices are cheaper then the 245's. The size may be more common for you not sure but its worth a try if you can stand the look. Untill I ordered tire's recently I didn't even realize the difference. Food for thought. You won't even lose any accuracy of speed readings.

Jeez, and those look like low end tires too.
I like the Falken Ziex ZE-512. About $90 USD. How much are mounting and balancing and alignments there? I do it myself where I work or at school for free, but mounting a tire is idiots work and shouldn't be that expensive, and an alignment isn't that hard, but more expensive. If you want to try to work the front camber to reduce wear you could loosen the upper strut mount and use a level and try to make it even so the tire stands up straight instead of an angle.
That tire is shot, period, not road safe at all. If you were poor as heck you could rotate the fronts, but with directionals you'll make them wear faster and kill traction. If you had a little bit to spend you could remount them on opposite sides so they wore on the inside wear there is still tread left, but they are still unsafe and the shop will give you a hard time if not refuse to do it.
I say you do a ghetto camber adjustment, won't be as good as one from the shop, but a hell of a lot cheaper and will help a lot.

Slap the fronts on the back and let them wear the rest of the way down… or hell, get your alignment fixed and just leave them on there for another season, they’ll be fine until they start showing belts, and if you fix the issue that is causing the uneven wear that will be a while.
Is this the best answer… no way, but will it work real world… sure.
