Tokico HP or KYB AGX
I am getting all new Struts and Shocks for the RS. I have the F41 suspension set up and am wondering if you all think I should go with the Tokico HPs or the KYB AGX? This is not going to be used for road racing, I just want a good aftermarket strut/shock combo that will be good for daily driving at stock height. The Tokico's will be around $100 less than the adjustable KYBs.

Tokico. I talked to many guys about shocks/struts before I bought mine. In conversations, most said KYB is a good unit, better than stock. But Tokico was a step better in what your paying for, a better all around shock. The next step up is Bilstien or Koni. From what I was told, if you can't afford either of those, your next choice is Tokico. Talk to the guys at shox.com. Great guys, have everything, and will sell you what YOU want.

i defenitly believe the tokico might be a step better overall but between the AGX from KYB (adjustable) and the Tokcio HP's (nonadjustable) the AGX's might be better.
they are also $350 as opposed to about $250 for the HP's.....then again i could go with the illuminas (which are better than both) from tokico for about $100 more than the AGX's........so many decisions
any suggestions?

I've gone with Tokiko HP's on a budget before, used them with stock height springs and 1" drop springs (Eibach Pro-Kit) and they were great for the price. I haven't run the adjustable KYB's so I dont have a direct comparison, but I do have a set of the adjustable KYB's ready to go on my girlfriends 92Z28 maybe I'll have a more informative opinion after I install them and try them out. From the perspective of tuning the car for track use adjustable parts are a plus so the KYB's win there. But at around their price you can get the Tokiko Illuminas on E-bay also adjustable. Just something to consider.

yea about $75 more for the illuminas...which im considering more and more now.
the adjustability feature is nice....ill be running a 2" drop so thats the main thing im worried about, a shock to handle that drop.
im still torn between the three...
BTW does anyone know if "Strange" brand shocks are drag shocks or normal street shocks??

I'm running the KYB AGX shock/ strut combo with a 1" drop (pro-kit). These are really nice. They are very firm at full adjustment, loose at minimum. The only problem is inbetween. there doesn't seem to be much of a noticable difference in the middle settings. Still like them. For the cost, and fact you can use them for the twisties, and straights and get a 100% different feel from the suspension they get my vote. There is other struts/shocks I would have used had I had the money, but you can't beat the VALUE.

yea value is big to me (but in the end of a $10,000+ build whats another $200?) and to be honest i never really hit the twisties very much (but my friend did just buy a 2000 T/A) and aren't that serious at the track so my stockers did "fine" but i do want something better since its all apart again.
