Springs & sway bars - from donor cars

I'll try to make it out to the car wreckage places around here so.. my question is ...

Springs from a '78 Camaro ... would they fit ? And if so ... what effect would they cause ? Lower .. higher ... same ride height but stiffer .. or what ?

Swaybars ... what should I look for ?

I have a '91 Camaro RS 305 TBI .. and yes it needs some things added to it.. for better cornering ... wonderbar is a planned purchase and so is Monroe shocks (may pick those up today)

Anything else I could get from other Camaro's ?

Your 78 springs won't fit and you'll probably want to stay away from used springs, they'll sag with age and wear. You can look for a used wonderbar and keep your eyes out for 24mm rear and 34 or 36mm front sway bars. If you swap sway bars make sure you swap both ends at the same time, some will tell you to match springs to the bars too...

But first get some subframe connectors.

thanks

OK, I did actually look at used wonderbars, they had one on Ebay from an '86 Iroc, the stock one, but considering it went for 31 dollars why not just buy a new aftermarket one from TDS for 50

Solid or hollow swaybars ?

Alright

Got two swaybars, front and back, from a Z28 at the junkyard, cost me 36 bucks for both of them, but damn ... the bolts on the driver side were just STUCK real bad, and I mean real bad, in the back I couldn't even get the thing off, had to go to plan B, i.e. remove the mounting bracket as well *lol*

The TDS wonderbar is in the mail, it'll hopefully arrive tomorrow or Tuesday.

Now I'll need to see if any Autozone or PepBoys here have the energy suspension swaybar fittings in stock.

Actually, question here, the PST front end kit, does it come with swaybar bushings too ??? For all FOUR different mounting locations .. or is that a seperate buy ?

You'll have to get bushings specific to the diameter of the sway bars. You can also get the energy suspension endlink kits. You got a good deal though.

Hell yeah *l* I was thinking about hiding all the hardware in my pockets etc.. expecting to pay like 80-90 bucks for the swaybars and I almost went like "WHAT ??? Ya charging me... what,... 36 ... oh for the bolts.. oh .. for everything ???" but I didn't *l*

INCREDIBLE !!

OK I'm a total idiot

Naturally I parked the car outside the junkyard ... I found a few RS's and one Z28 (supposedly an '86.. or something like that.. either way not a '91) ... I compared the swaybars on the RS's with the ones on the Z28 .. and woohoo... Z28 won in size ... took me hours to get to the swaybars and remove them ... combo of bad tools.. stripped bolts and nuts .. and rusted together .. either way. .got it all

Even got EnergySuspension kit for the rear one ...

Now ... listen to this.... read it all again.. what did I NOT do ?? .. I NEVER measured my own swaybars first.. just assumed Z28's were always bigger ....

My bar ..at least front one... is as thick as the Z28 one.. it MAY even be 1 mm thicker ... 34 mm vs a possible 33mm (from the Z28)

Thank you everyone for reading about how I now feel like a total IDIOT !!!!!!!!

*lol*

On the good side, my TDS wonderbar arrived today and is already installed

I noticed, when isntalling it, part of the bodyroll problem is.. one of the swaybar bushings is ... like... uhmmm... almost gone.. almost cracked in half ... unfortunately Autozone didn't have the size needed for the front one ... ie 34 mm.. nor 33 mm ....

And I'm leaving on Thursday for a little while .. so I just wanted to get new bushings installed BEFORE I left
