IROC to WS6 Sway Bars?

Did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for.. but I have a 1988 IROC-Z and I was considering upgrading to WS6 sway bars front and rear. Would it really make a difference.. am I going to see/feel a difference?

I felt a big difference on my car, but I had a base suspension (base model Firebird), not the stiffer IROC one.

It's pretty cheap mod to do, I got mine for $50 each. I say go for it, you certainly can't lose

It would help if you listed what your bar sizes are currently. I have WS6 package on my car and I am just about convinced that I want a smaller rear bar for autox.

I have no idea what my stock size bars are... whatever came stock with the IROC-Z package... I assume all IROC's had the same?

If I can find a caliper I'll try and measure mine..

The front IROC is 34mm. I can't remember the rear size though. WS6 is 36mm front and 24mm rear.

thanks... 2mm certinally isn't worth the effort or expense.

You'd be surprised how much the change is.

Not sure how it's calculated, but I've read a post by Sam Strano [of F-stock and ESP auto-x fame] that a 21mm bar is 33% stiffer then a 19mm rear bar.

So the possibility for feeling a change is definately there, but most people with 3rd gens in an auto-x or road race setup actually end up stepping the rear bar down if the have the WS6 bar.

The 36mm bar up front is definately the desirable piece though.

If you were local, I'd trade my 24mm rear bar. Not worth shipping it though.

J=pi*D^4

So the polar moment of interia grows very quickly. Just alittle increase in diameter has a huge effect on the torsion stiffness.
