Qwik rim Q?.. 15 x 10 Rim, What Backspacing would i need?

Hey all..Yea u searched and found alot of usefull info but not quite what i wanted.
I have a 92 Formula with disc brakes and want to buy a set of 15 x 10 weld magnum 's..Yea their $1,200.00 a set but i have always wanted them and im getting a big mid year bonus soon.So..What backspacing would i need not to hit my suspension and fender well..Im prolly gonna run a Ho
osier QT 295-50-15 (27.0 x 10.0 tread - 12.5 sect)..I think that would be safe for the tires sake..Would like to go to the 325-50-15 (28.0 x 10.5 tread -13.0 sect)..But prolly would work as well.Any help would be appreciated!

5.5" backspacing would tuck it right under the fender lip. you may have to do some massaging to get it to not hit the inner fender well though...no big deal, just don't hit the fender when your hammering.

I had 15x10 w/ 5.5 bs on my car. Had to massage it a little on the inner wheelwell toward the front down low. I used a 28x12.50 MT ET Street. Fit real nice.

suspension isn't an issue till your talking about running like 28x13.5's or something like that. i know plenty of people running 29x11.5's without any issues at all. i'm running a 295/50/16 on my irocs which are slightly taller than a 295/50/15 because of the rim diameter. mine are just shy of 28" tall. they tuck under really well.

What do you mean by "massage" ?..Ive heard of putting a towel over the fender well and "banging" it with a rubber hammer evenly..Is that pretty much it?

just beat on the inner fender well for clearance. massaging is a nice way to put it.

No, not the outer lip, this is on the inner wheel well. By massage I mean smash it real good w/ a nice 3lb. sledge.....

Ive been wondering about this too, i'm planning on pickign up the Weld Aluma Stars, 15x10 with a 6inch backspacing, i've seen every1 go with a 5.5 bs and it seems to stick out just a tad more than i like, i want it tucked a tiny bit more so i want the 6inch bs or even a 6.5 but i gota measure for sure to see what i can squeeze. I plan on cutting out the front inner fender corner and replacing it with a more squared off piece to give mroe clearance, and also cutting out the part right above the bump stop and replacing that with a flat piece of metal to gain more room. anybody ever tackled anything like this, wondering how it turned out? or am i gonna pioneer this thing haha.. all in all id like to stuff a 28x12.5 or 28x13.5 ET street or hoosier QTP

to tuck that much, you'll have to mini-tub, which is exactly what your idea is. people do it all the time, and it will look bad-***!

I don’t think so… a 10” rim with 6.25” backspacing will have the same offset as the factory 16” rear rims, so in theory they should fit/be spaced about the same, of course, that wider rim and the correspondingly bigger tire gets harder to fit in the wheel well no matter what you do as you as you go larger. I posted some pics of some 295/50/16’s on my formula on a 3/8” offset wheel and found that the outside was a bigger problem then the inside, and it would fit better with something closer to the factory 16” wheel offset (FWIW, it’s reported as being 5/8”, but my stock formula rims actually measure almost 7/8” offset)

running that big of a rim almost always goes hand in hand in running a big tire. if your gonna run something like 29x13.5's or something, you'll need to mini-tub. anything over 28x10.5 i'd think would rub with that much backspacing.

I really think it'll go with alittle work and look good, i was studying the pix of that blue iroc that did the same deal only he had his rear end shortened 15/16s, did the same modifications to his wheel well and it tucked really well, theoretically without shortening his rear end he'd have to have a 6.5" bs to make it look like it does with the shortened rear, so without shortening my rear having a 6 or 6.5 bs it should work haha what am i saying, i love fabricating and in fabricating u make it work!

Heres that car i forget whos it is, but it has a 28x12.5 tire, exactly what i want to do..
