Stock Rim spacers
Hey I was woundering if anyone has used spacers on there rearend to get the rims to come out more? I was looking at my stcok Iroc rims and I think they look goofy sitting way under the wheel wells. I want to bring them out just like 3/4 inch or 1 inch from where they sit so they can be more flush with the fender.
I have factory IROC "rear" rims on the back with the standard size 245/50-16 tires on a factory wide axle and I do use 7/16" wheelspacers on the back to sit them outward towards the lip a little more. Wish I had actually another 1/4-3/8" though sitting them about 13/16" out.
It is actually unsafe to do more than about 1/4" max unless you have longer and stronger aftermarket wheelstuds. I am running ARP 1/2" studs that are aprox 3" long.
Also, running a larger spacer like the one I mentioned I'd wish I had made requires it to be machined hub centric so as to not put lateral strain on the wheelstuds. I had two custom ones machined for my custom brake setup on the front of my car that are 13/16 hubcentric and I wish I had 2 more made at that time for the rear since it would have been half the price to just get the second pair
ps- those are not the ARP studs, that picture does not show the finished setup. The brake setup with those spacers have been on the car now for over a year. The spacers would fit hubcentric onto my rear axles also.
