Doing Susupenion Work This Weekend---A FEW ?????
I was planning on going to Cruisin' the Coast (huge car show) this weekend on the Coast--Mississippi Coast, but it was cancelled-of course! So I am going to do some suspension work this weekend since I am off. First off, let me say that I plan on installing an Eiback Pro-kit, TDS wonderbar, KYB GR-2 Shocks/struts, and Spohn LCA relocation brackets, plus getting an alignment. I have read past posts related to this topic and I am a little confused. I do a whole lot of highway driving about 60 miles round trip a day on the weekdays for school. I have read about the relocation brackets and bought those knowing it would help out regardless of stock or lowered. I dont plan on doing any kind of AutoX or racing for a long while and I wont be able to do much more work on the car till the Christmas holidays. So do I need a Adj. Panhard rod and Adj, LCA's? Will the car drive fine with the above setup until I can put the other parts on? How will the car drive? Also, are these parts recommended just as accessories for optimal suspension performance? Thanks for your help!
u do not NEED any of these things when u lower the car, but it does help. i have the pro-kit on mine and BMR relocation brackets. stock panhard rod, LCA's and everything else. car drives fine. rear and front alignment is fine. since u dont really race the car i wouldnt go too crazy with suspension stuff. except like struts, shocks, etc. things that are required for a good ride. also i plan on doing sub frame connectors soon as probably my last aftermarket suspension mod. my car doesnt see track days anymore. all street/highway driving.
i would say yes to the springs and adj. phb but no to the rest. return what you can and upgrade the kyb's to bilsteins, tokico illuminas, or koni reds. regardless of what most will tell you the single best suspension mod is premium dampers (shocks and struts). Everything else is down the list even the vaunted subframe connectors
I'll second what laiky said about the dampeners, dont want to cheap out on them. Thats pretty much what will determine how nice the car rides (springs also have alot to do with it). I'm running Koni Reds on my street car and they've been great from a mild 1" drop to a wild 2.5+" drop. I'm sure other dampeners in the same price range will also ride great. Other than that, I recommend you add a bushings kit of some sort to the list, if you're gonna have the suspension apart you might as well replace bushings. They make a big difference in ride quality (blown/worn vs fresh).
