Kenny Brown STB Instal Problems

alright so here is the deal, i ordered the KB STB a month ago upon reading the good reviews it got on this site and another.

well i got it and test fited it in my car before i got out the drill, well there is a problem, it hits the engine and AC thingy (i have no clue what that is called)...and i think because of this, it does not touch the passengers side strut tower.

here are some pictures, no coments about the over spray. i put tape on the thing to not scratch the hell out of the powerder coat.

area where it doesnt even touch

looks like the easiest thing to do is to find a metal fabricator or something to make a spacer plate to stick under that side that doesnt touch. but, does that mean my car is messed up?

When I installed the KB strut brace I had to make spacers for it too. I think I had to use 3/8" spacers. My car is a low mile car with no accidents, so I would say there is nothing wrong with your car. The problem is these are mass produced cars, so they won't all be the same.

Can you do me a favor and measure the distance between the TPI plennum and the top of the STB bar as it passes over the plennum? Would really appreciate it, having a hard time finding a STB that will work with the hood I have (limited clearance, some STB's dont fit). I've also heard the KB piece was nice. I read some people bent those A/C lines, not sure if you wanna do that though. Good luck and thanks.

yes i will do that for you, hopefully tomorrow. send me a PM if i dnot get back to you in a couple days so i dont forget. i figured out that it was just the AC line was getting in the way and i just lightly pushed it the the pass side with my hand, it moved less then a quarter an inch (nothing broke ) and the STB fit right into place.

What type of hood do you have, i bought the edlebrock STB and it didnt clear under my SS hood, but the BMR one fit fine.

Hey thanks for the help miamivice, I really appreciate it. And I'm glad the install worked out for you, scary bending those lines huh? Justin, I'm running one of those OEM 82/83 SMC/Glass hoods that came on the early Camaros. Its the black one on my IROC-Z in my sig. I tried a BMR strut brace but it didnt fit, I'm getting contact before even latching the hood closed (looking through the vents I cut out)
