Anybody using 285/40/17's?
i was planning on using 285's out back and 255/40's up front on 17x9 ss wheels. i wouldn't think there would be a problem with running 285's, but does anyone know??? using 2" spacer on all four corners. thanks, dave

I honestly have never herd anyone using that size. I have herd of 275, 295, 315......hell I am using 335.
What makes you want to use 285?

they are just slightly wider than the 275 (obviously) buy no taller. there are only a few tire makers who make them, goodyear has a couple, and i plan on using nitto's nt555's which has them in this size.

thanks for the reply. from the tirerack.com, it says the 285's are 26.1 where as the 275 are 25.7 inches tall?? but i know it's not like the difference between 275 and a 315 tire. but just a little.

i don't like to start arguements. but there is no such tire, that is in a 295/35/17 but there is in a 18 inch rim. and yes 315 is a 35 series tire for 17's but too wide for anything less then a 10.5 inch wide rim. which just happens to be what i am using, 17 x 9. but thanks for trying to help.
