7-8 inch rims

I've been offered a set of 4 American Racing rims 7" width front and 8" rear all are 15" diameter.
What size tyres should i be looking for ?
I dont want to go way big, just the correct size at a reasonably low profile, we dont have great tyre choices here, i can get Coopers, BF, Kumho and a few others, but i dont want it looking like a dragster at the rear.

Thanks.

I would go with a 235 or 225 up front and a 245 in the rear. Try around a 55 series profile. I like the BFG t/a's personally, but Ive had Godyear eagles and they worked great as well. Good luck

Sounds good to me, the only size thats not readily avalable here is a 55 profile. Just have to get as close as i can.
Thanks for the help.

I wanted a 55 series due to perfect height, so I wouldn't have to change my speedo gear... couldn't find a thing either...
I went with 60 series.

I would do 225s up front, and 255-275 in the back... no sense in wasting 8" wide wheels

a 235/60/15 up front with it's 7.5" of tread and 26" tall would be very healthy, yet not over bearing...then go to the back with a 255/60/15 with it's 8.5" of tread and 27" tall and it would give a slightly raked stance for an aggressive look. you will no problems putting these size tires on the car as long as the 15x8 wheel for the rear has no more than 5.5" of backspacing, though 4.5" would be optimal...not sure what all of these measurements would be in metric, but hopefully this helps some.

just to let you know, i am running a 275/60/15 tire out back and they are right at 10" wide and about 28" tall. i'll show you a couple of pics to let you know what they would look like, but they may be a bit much for your application.

and after a body swap/paint job, and ready for the strip:

And I thought the whole point of te excersize was to NOT look like a dragster

Like I said, a 245 in the rear will give you plenty of traction without looking like a funny car. Another bonus is that it will keep the cost down and minimise fitment issues. No rubbing or crazy backspacing required- buy tires and put on. About as simple as it gets. Anyways, I hope some of this has helped.

i was merely showing him what it would look like if he did decide to go to the 275/60/15 tire...but i suggested the 255/60/15.

also, you may want to look into the 265/50/15...it's a 25.5" tire and will not give you a rake, but will give you a solid 9" of rubber.
