i believe the only size available for the 16" wheels from M/T is the 255/50/16, and you will have NO fitmant issues.

i don't know what sizes they have for 16's but i have 275/60/15's on mine with no issues. the only problem is that the lip under the quarter panel barely hits the sidewall under hard acceleration. i would definitely recommend the tires though, i have had no traction problems at all since i got them, it won't even hardly do a burnout without water.

Stupid question... how well do they handle? Hell, I actually prefer nitto 555r's on the back of an "overpowered" car at an autox or for agressive street use, I'm wondering if these would be a valid replacement...

my buddy has them on his mustang and they handle about as good as an et street would, its just a little less sidewall and deeper treads is all

So they’re probably not that good a replacement for nittos in actual street use…

mine are currently on the car as my street tires, though i'll be picking up a set of regular street tires for my street wheels soon so i won't have to run them any more. they are actually really well mannered on the street. and decent wet traction. my car is lower than stock, but with the taller tire, it doesn't seem that way. it is a 275/60/15 tire. and it acts like a 275/60/15 radial, which is kinda sloppy anyway.

they don't have much of a street life though, they only last like maybe 10K.

I run the 255/50/16's on my stock formy rims and they hook like a mother.

what do you think all the "factory suspension" cars are running/going to? MT Radials I've seen plenty dragging rear bumpers on them, but an under powered car goes up, a car with enough power(and the same traction) just goes forward... - but these guys are usually either NOS/turbo'ed out the butt and they launch w/o or with very little(to keep traction) then throw the power at it down the track...

- as far as street wear...I'm not betting on much. For DR's you have Nitto, BFG, and Mickey. The Nitto's are the least traction of the 3, seemingly lasting around 15k. The BFG's are next, 8-10k. I would bet on the Mickey's lasting less than either of the above, but hooking harder. I really hope they release a 315/35/17...

- my mileage numbers are from 2 vehicles, my car and a buddies stang, both on 315/35/17's. - daily driven, raced fairly often.

depending on the set-up the radials have been know to be faster than the full slicks. either Hot Rod or CHP did an article testing the 2 a while back. The car was a seasoned race only car. They actually went a tenth or two faster on the radials, and the 60's were more consistent.

Have your eye rolled back in your head in that pic? All you can see is the whites of your eyes and the bottom of your car, pretty sweet!

im not sure on the cross member...its my buddies brother's car so i will have to ask him....but yah i believe that they said that the wheelie in the pic was the first time it had ever gone up that high....which i think was like the second pass on those drag radials.....

hey everyone!

the car matt is talking about is our car. I go to school with him and keep him updated on the progress. The crossmember in that car is custom. Ed Quay out of Pottstown PA fabbed that up. That car with Hoosier Quick Time Pro's went 10.50's but our best 60 fts were around 1.44 on a good day. The MT ET Street Radial is a nice tire. With the stiffer sidewall, the tire stays round unlike a slick. This was the second time out with them tires. The first time out we were experimenting with tire pressures and with gabriel gasmatics there is no shock tuning available! we got the wheels to come up and then experienced some good tire shake. the pic is from cecil county and we got the car to conistantly 60 ft. in the high 1.30's. That 60' shows that we are getting all we can out of the suspension. We took it to Atco a few weeks later and made 3 more passes that it was close to being on the bumper. I have 2 videos of that but i need to figure out how to get them to open up on a computer! lol. Hopefully i can get our website up and running soon. If anyone has questions let me know. I highly recommend the MT ET Street Radials. Goodyear has a set out now that i heard work well. A buddy of ours who raced NSS last year was testing them and he loved them. That tire is the sponsoring tire for the RAM Racing N/A Shootout Series. They are another option!

I just ordered a set of Draglites and M/T ET street radials and I cannot wait to go to the track!

Sorry to get off topic, but what is the flywheel and rearwheel HP of that red Firebird in the pics? and was that run N/A? That is a sweet car and an awesome wheelie!

1991 RS/SS:

That car is Naturally Aspirated. It always will be! lol. We consider the motor in it a junkyard motor! The bottom end is stock and it has a mechanical lift cam. It has iron heads (16's) that have been ported. The car has never been dynoed because that motor being ran in the car is just temporary while we finish the other two race motors. I am guessing it makes around 540 at the flywheel which is only 1.18 horsepower per cubic inch. Nothing spectacular! Due to drivetrain loss i am assuming 430 or so at the wheels. It has more in it but we don't run it on kill. Timing is turned down and we shift it around 5800 because of the stock rods. We are currently building a 400 6x head motor for it to race NHRA Superstock. We also started building a 477 with E-heads for the NSCA Pro Comp / NMCA Pro Stock class. But our main focus is on the superstock motor. We recently purchased another 3rd gen which we will be starting on also. It will be another N/A 10.5" tire car. The plan is to build that one to SFI 25.5 chassis specs.

You should be very happy with your new wheel and tire combo. They definately work! With them being a rounder tire than a slick, you can definately get quicker times if you can get them to hook!
