Strut Tower Brace Without Drilling Holes?

I've been wanting to put a strut tower brace in my car for a while, but I don't like the idea of drilling holes in the strut towers. Would there be anything wrong with making one that would mount to the tower using 1 or 2 of the upper strut mounting nuts? Would it still be just as effective? Would it cause problems with the struts?

Thanks for your help.

I drilled mine not once but twice, after I got a bigger air cleaner I had to move the brace. As long as you protect the holes you drill you will be OK.

Do you have the Edelbrock 3 point strut tower brace that was designed for TBI/Carb cars? If so, can you post a pic of what it looks like. I still haven't seen one yet.

I purchased a MAC 2 pt stb from Lmperformance which required no drilling. The bar did the job of eliminating cowl shake as much as my 3pt edelbrock, however it took forever to be shipped in, and I would reccomend going another route unless you are unsuccessful in sourcing another non-drill stb.

Nope. He's sold his ThirdGens and moved on to FourthGens a long time ago.

Cool, I'll schedule some time to work on it. Let me know when you can drop off your car.

The drive back and forth from mid-Kansas should be fun

it would definitly come in contact with a factory or open element air cleaner.. although running a carb hat could probably be a solution.

So it works by using the already existing bolt holes ? No problem at all ?

it mounts to the front two studs of the upper strut mount. you simply remove the nuts as if to adjust your camber, slide the bar onto the studs, then tighten. Yes, it works.. stopped the cowl shake in my dad's 91 t/a

Term used to describe the creaking noise caused by front end flex. It sounds like its coming from behind your dash.
