Stock rear rim on 4th gen rearend

What are the problems with swapping my rear for a fourth gen rear and putting the stock 15" rim back on? I know there is a backspacing issue (altho I'm not very clear about it), but how far would the rims stick out and what are the problems with them being that far out, as in, does the rear tires being wider apart than the front tires introduce handling lissues?

It depends on which rear you have in your 3rd gen and which rear you are installing out of the 4th gen. measure the width across the hubs on both rears. they may just be the same, I don't however know what issues you may encounter regarding bolt-up differences.

I know a lot people on the boards r familiar with this. I just did a search and saw some pics and it doesn't look that bad.

You would need to check and make sure that the 15 inch wheels will fit over the 4th gen rear brakes - most if not all the 4th gen rears had disc brakes, and may not fit inside the 3rd gen 15 inch wheels. My 16inch wheels fit fine over my LS1 rear disc brakes, but that's a 16 inch wheel - I've not tested my 15 inch wheels to see.

I didn't think of that. Supposedly 1LE and C4 brakes can fit under the 15" rim. I think they are 12" rotors. Are the rear rotors on the LS1 larger than 12"?

I dunno - like I said I nevber tested the 15inch wheels, and I never measured the LS1 brakes. LOL - All I cared about was that it was a posi disc rear!

I ran my factory GTA 16's for a while with my 4th gen rear. Sat out equal to my current 17x11's.(pics on these boards, just search) as for brakes, not sure if a 15 would clear the LS1 rear discs. Mine is an LT1 take out, so same PBR rears I had before.

15's just BARELY didn't clear the calipers on my ls1 rear. Probobally could have taken a cm or so off them with a grinder and solved the issue.
