So I started installing my LCAs last night, and...

...I had a couple things happen that surprised me a bit. I removed the rear bolt first (on the pass side), & instead of dropping, the stock LCA sprang upwards & stayed there. When I removed the front bolt, the stock LCA dropped easily. I looked, but wasn't able to see a reason for this "spring action".

The new ones that I'm installing are BMR adjustable units, so I adjusted the new one to the length of the stock unit (as measured by the bolt holes) so that it would go in easily - and the new one was a bit too long. Does that mean that my rear end moved forward when I took the old one out? (The directions that shipped with the new LCAs are really basic, & don't say anything about immobilizing the rear end, in fact they instruct you to make sure that it's not supported by anything when doing the install.)

Can someone who's done this before please tell me if something's trying to go wrong here?

Thanks guys.

(I'm thinking of pulling the new one out again -it's currently held in place by 1 bolt- verifying again that it's the same length as the old one, & trying to move the rear if necessary...)

yea, your rear end will shift during installation. If you were using non adjustable ones, you'd use a crowbar or something to force your rear end to the right length, and drop in your bolt. You're very lucky, just adjust the length of your new bars to fit in EASILY, do one at a time like you are.

Then once they're in, you can measure bolt to bolt, and adjust to be the same length as your old ones. That'll be your baseline. Then you can track test it and tweak it to be even better.

Thanks Sonix, I appreciate it - it had me puzzled for a little bit there...
