Okay I ran a few searches and came up with squat. My dad is out in the garage trying to wrestle on my new Hotchkis springs as I'm typing this. I'm just not too sure we're doing it right. I read that the end of the bottom coil is supposed to go in between the two drain holes in the A-arm. Is this correct? Thanks a lot.

That kinda helped. Are we supposed to reuse those rubber pads on top of the springs? Damn. Still don't know how to line them up though.

I dont know for sure but i would just replace those rubber deals, chances are that there worn out from over the years.

 

Okay, so I lined up the springs like this...



The end of the coil is more or less between the two holes on the bottom of the A arm.

But now the spring doesn't seem to be sitting quite right. It's hanging up in the air and not resting against the A-arm where the arrow is. Will it settle over time or what?



And does anyone know for sure if I'm supposed to reuse those rubber caps that were on top of the old springs?


One more thing: I put the flat side of the spring up and the rounded side down. They're Hotchkis springs.

 

Yes. the flat side goes up. I did not reuse the rubber for my springs and I am not noticing any ill effects after a year. No added noise either. The two holes that are about an inch or so apart is where the spring is to be centered. By the way be sure to thank your dad for the help today.

 

a lil tip, the stock what people call an "a arm" the bottom of the spring isnt suported on the perch evenly, the way they are designed the inside of the coil gets more load then the outside, thats why when you remove used ones they are bowed. so with the car up in the air the outside will usually not be touching the perch. im not to sure why they did that like that so if anyone knows please respond.
