depends on the backspacing of the wheel you may only need 1.5 or 1.75 spacer

It depends on what wheels you get, and what stance you want. I am running 4 17" C5 wheels, I am using 2" spacers up front, and 2.25" spacers in the rear, with a C4 front brake setup.

Just curious, is the car's steering affected by the spacers in the front at all?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
All that the steering cares, is that the tire tread is in the right place. It can't look out and see, and wouldn't care even if it could, whether that metal in the middle there is part of the wheel, or the hub, or a spacer.

I have C5 wheels on my car too; 2" spacers all around. Everything fits great.
