Before people bash bolt on ones, I've had SLP bolt ons on my Z28 for over 4 years now...they have not loosened one bit, and made a pheonmenal difference in the car.
However, no one has ever mentioned bolt on ones on here, and I am not sure if there is a shop anywhere near here who would be willing to weld in SFCs for me...
Anyone have any thoughts?

OK,
After a quick online search, I found both the TDS and CE bolt on SFCs...these are what I need to get.
Any advice on which is easier/better? Is there any way to quantify the loss in these versus welded ones? I know welded is better, but I am having crap luck finding a speed shop I trust (the key issue!!) around here to do the work.
Thanks...

any welding shop can weld them in....shoot for $50-100 for the install. also I bought jegs brand bolt-ins and had a body shop employee weld them in, took all of 30 minutes on his back to weld them up.

The only body shop around here I even trust said they "don't get into that kind of thing," and both muffler shops are NOT places I'd take my car. Unless someone on here has a recommendation for a shop in Western MA, I'm doing bolt ons...
So basically, I need to know what I'm getting into!

look in your local yellow pages for welding shops, then call around. or find local speed shops, dirt tracks, etc. Most of those circle track guys would do it for low money, beer, etc.

That's not bad advice...I'll see what I can come up with.
Assuming for the moment I don't come up with anything good, any information on the bolt-on variety would be very much appreciated!

Best to have the car on a drive on lift when welding SFC on . So the car will be level and not all twisted up. Ive heard of many people welding them up on post lifts and the doors not shutting right afterwards.
TTA#299 - since he said "on his back" I'd bet they did it while the car was still on the ground which is the same thing, just less work space.
- the alston's seem to be pretty good for bolt-ons(search). I personally have no experience with bolt-ons though.

I live in Needham, Eastern MA and there are a shortage of shops until you open the yellow pages and grab a phone. Back when I was looking for exhaust shops I flet like there was no where to go, then I spent 30 minutes on the yellow book and had 30 #s to call, Most said they could help me or recomend someone who could.
I now do my own welding. I got SFC welded in for about 50 bucks. Just get bolt ons, then weld them later if you don't have the time now. I have drivin' to Springfield, that is not THAT far away. I got mine welded in Brockton for that low low price. There are places everywhere.
For example, I needed sheet metal when I was fixing my floor pans and had no idea where to get any. I walked up to a place called "Needham Welding Co." and asked the first guy I saw if I could buy some metal, he said they do not just sell it to people, the onlt do contacted work and stuff like that. i asked if I could take a sheet I saw leaning up against a wall for $30 bucks, and he said. Sure.
Good luck

Thanks Dennis,
Yeah, I'd say Springfield to Brockton isn't too far away. I found a shop a friend of mine used out in Pittsfield that welds stainless exhausts together (not everyone does, apparently), so I'm going to try them out too...
The problem is, every shop in Springfield is NOT a place I'd take my own car...not even close!

I have the comp engineering bolt ins that are shaped like: --^
They are pretty damn beefy, and they will NOT work with stock exaust setup. I have duals so didnt matter. They are part number C3111 they used to sell for about $250. Mine are bolted in, did them with all four wheels on ramps as to keep the frame in balance as if it where sitting on level ground iwth the suspension loaded. They will be welded up after I finish paining the car.
