Does the quick ratio steering box make the V6 turn like a truck?

I bought a quick ratio steering box and I was under the impression when I bought it that nothing would change except how many times I actually turn the steering wheel. I was talking to someone and he said that if I put that on my V6 car it will turn like a truck in a parking lot. Something about the V6 being lighter than the V8. Is this true? Does anyone else with a V6 have the quick ratio box on their car?

I love when people advice means more than LOGIC! Why in the world would the car weighing a little less make it take longer to turn with a QUICK box????????????????????????? to you for buying that info. for him for telling you that.

unless you've lengthend your car any, then your not going to run into problems. i thought less effort was a good thing?

uhm to the last guy, a quick ratio box is going to require more effort to turn ... and the box actually has the internal stops in a different place, you will lose turning radius.. which was apparently to keep the 245/50/16's from rubbing.. though I have read there was a 15" wheel version of the box

not like a truck lol
my rs v6 had a smaller turning radiaus apposed to my tbi with the quick ratio box .
the standard box is better for say going into some of the crappy fast food joints around here my quick ratio dosnt always make the the corners .

i much prefered the standard steering box , with larger sway bars it dosnt jerk the car around as much when makeing fast manuvers on the freeway . i also had installed the 1le sway bars on both cars .
the v6 car handeled much smoother where as my v8 car throws its weight to much ive also drove a v8 with the standard box and it was much smoother .

i guess you have to live in ohio and go through most of the drive throughs here to know what i mean .

here we have a driving test that failed with an iroc but passed flawlessly with a v6 car only because the steering box is better suited for parking lots .

i have yet to see an advantage to haveing the quick ratio box as both cars had 245-50-16 tires the stock box didnt let the tires rub but the quick ratio car dose rub.
i mean yes the quick ratio dose "feel" tighter but it really dosnt seem like an upgrade worth doing .

I replaced my steering box with one that I thought was a stock quick ratio. Parts guy gave me the wrong one and oh man, I couldn't drive my dang car like that. It was like driving a truck due to the ammount of input it took for the car to turn like I wanted it to. Got the correct one and all was good again.

In that case I'm going to sell this one. I do not want to decrease my turning radius, if anything I'd like to increase it (but then those 255s that will be on my new wheels will probably rub). I guess I'll see if I can find a regular steering box that is nice a tight, I just can't see spending $100+ for a refurb regular box at the auto parts store though.

To each his own

I've driven a few 3rd gens without the Quick box and
they all seemed kinda of lazy.
My Iroc came with it and really like the goes where you
steer it feel. The box complements the suspension upgrade
on these cars and even more so when you step up from
there, Tires, control, Torque and track bars ect.
I don't think you'll be sorry.
