Wanted...Slight lift suggestions?
Im workin with a 85 Camaro Berlinetta with a 400sb. My problem is the side pipes which I am about it install will scrape. What I need is about an inch lift in the front and I want to lift the rear about 2" to compensate and block it so It doesn't cut into my 285 tires. I'd like to go with air bags to give it a nice look when its parked, but I dont want to lose handling. any suggestions on what type of air bag to use? Is this a bad idea? If so any suggestions? I heard a Z28 spring would give me an inch in the front.

To be completely honest I don't know much about suspension. If I replace the spring isolators, should I replace the springs as well? will 4th gens fit?

I know the rear 4th gen springs will fit, but I'm unsure of the spring rates on 4th gen springs. Maybe someone else can chime in with that info. What info have you found on the airbag setup?
I know a guy that just put airshocks on the rear, then he pumped them up to give his car some rake. I dont think thats the smartest thing to do, but it worked.

Thank you for your help, this is what I've found so far as far as air bags go:
Well, I found several options for rear bags...
Air Ride makes custom bags for a gen 3 but they only lower (2 to 4 inches) so I was thinkin about maybe blocking them that way the ride is still adjustable from raked to level, and they also make a universal air bag but the price goes way up...
Also I found these drag bags but their isn't much info on them and I've never heard of them before...

I figure no matter what air bags I put under it (if I decide to go that route) then I'll have to block it to prevent the scraping or tire cutting anyway. From what I've gathered, Its not wise to put bags in the front, I've read It can screw with the handling pretty bad.
P.S. I like that quote!

Air bags are silly, you aren't driving an old cadillac full of hoe's and stereo equipment, or a new civic with a bandanna hanging from the rearview.
Use the 4th gen isolators, and new moog cc635 springs. And/or use a taller rear tire, what ratio are your 285's?
If you can still bottom out on your tire, add in a custom bumpstop to stop that.
You shouldn't have to raise the front, that looks pretty bad. If the springs are stock, put in new moog 5664's. If for some strange reason you still need more height, make up a spacer to put above your front springs, but I highly doubt you'll need it.

Well I'm pretty sure we're going to have to raise the front because if you hit a speed bump, after the front tires pass over it, the car will be getting high centered on my beautiful new chrome. But you think just the Isolators and the 5664's will do the trick? Oh and the Im out of town right now, but i believe the tires to be 285/50/r15

4th gen Isolators for the back, and maybe new cc635's in the back.
New 5664's in the front, and maybe stack two isolators at the top in the front. Never done that, so i'm not sure if it'd work ok. How much ground clearance do you have to your sidepipes? Are you sure they're the lowest part of the car, and by a lot? I really don't think you need more clearance than stock ride height. I have 5664's in the front and i've never bottomed out on anything, and I drive my car like it's stolen.

haha alright thanks for the help I just ordered new 5664's and Im just gonna use a spring spacer in the back (money saver). To answer your question, yea the side pipes are the lowest point between the wheels. but I'll space it and block it if i have to. Thanks again

Re: Wanted...Slight lift suggestions?
The Moog 5664 worked great! they gave me 1.4" lift and made the cornering SOOOOOOO much better. I have yet to put the isolators on but i think i will skip em. heres what she looks like with the pipes:

The second page has the side pipes on it

Re: Wanted...Slight lift suggestions?
holy cow the back end is high!
so, headers, collector at edge of car, then pipe? No exhaust (muffler) at all?
Wow that must be loud!
Looks good!

Re: Wanted...Slight lift suggestions?
The Exhaust pipes are made by patriot. I think you can find them at summit racing. Im sorry to disappoint you but three of the four collector pipes are fakes. Its all running through a 2 1/4 pipe. The muffler is inside the 3 1/2" but is made to where you can easily remove it, but its plenty load enough to wake up the neighborhood as it is . The *** end of the car is actually only 1.5" above stock. Those pics are on a hill so its kinda hard to see, But i had to put spacers in to make the front even with the back.
