I have a 92 z28 305 700r4 and my friend is telling me that they never made a posi drum brake rear for this year nor any other year third gen. Any truth with this? He is tryin to say my 10 bolt rear drum is not stock.

 

Find your RPO codes and run them. That will tell you what the car came with. Any variation of that, then its been modded.

 

My 92z came with a posi drum rear from the factory, same 305/700R4 as you. But Dale is right, its in the RPO codes.

I have a 91 with a 3:23 posi and drums.

 

My 88 sport coupe has a 10 bolt posi drum rear from the factory.I have the dealer invoice for the car.Look for rpo code G80.Limited Slip rear axle.On mine it was a 100 dollar option

my 87 has it i didnt check no codes though, but i got about a dozen black stripes out in front of my house that can verify that i got posi

For what its worth......

RPOs from 1982 -1992
G80 = Rear Axle, limited slip
J65 = Brakes, power front disc and rear disc

If you ordered a car with RPO G80 and did not also get RPO J65 you got rear durm brakes with you limited slip (posi) axle

RPO for 1992 only

G92 = Rear Axle, performance (Z28 coupe only) Included disc brakes all around, but required a 350 engine

Guess you friend is $150. lighter

Same here. I have RPO G80 (limited slip) and no J65 (I have rear drums in otherwords).

He owes you $150 and the rest of us a round of drinks!
