front tire caved in but it didnt break off help me
today me and my friend was ridin in his car 83 camaro and the front tire on the passenger side of the car caved in as if the tire was about to break off. we had to tow the car and the tow guy said it might be the ball joint that has broken. has anyone ever had a problem like this before. the car has stock rims and brand new tires so its not like he was riding on 20+ inch rims or anything and the breaks/rotors are good. we got the car home and the front axel seems fine not broken so what could it be. if you think you know please tell and if you have any idea of the cost/parts i would like to know that to!

Jack it up and look at it. Whatever's wrong should be obvious.

come on bro i already know that but i didnt know the name of the parts located around the tire area thats why i posted this to get mechanical answers not just jack it up...come on mr mod you can do better than that.
anyway im pretty sure its the ball joint and wheel bearings that need to be replaced. im just glad someone gave me some informative info on what i may need to fix the problem, not just some stupid bs talkin bout jack it up!

To fix the problem, you need to know what's broken. To find out what's broken, inspect the car. To do that, jack it up and look. Nobody here can do that for you. It's too hard for us to see the car from here, the monitor keeps getting in the way. If the tire is "caved in", then the problem will be obvious.
After you've looked, come back and tell everyone what you've found, and then you'll get plenty of mechanical answers and advice on how to fix it.

To make things easier, these are the parts of the front suspension. If you don't know the name of something, just refer to it by number.
