What exactly does a wonderbar do?

Search never works for me, so if this has been posted, I apologize. Anyway, what does a wonderbar do? I'm thinking about re-doing my front end before a motor swap and this looks like it could be interesting. Thanks, KP.

This is off the Spohn website........................

WONDERBAR.......This brace is designed to stiffen the front sub-frame and reinforce the steering box mount. This area is well known to be problematic on the third generation F cars. The tubular steering brace will not only provide for firmer steering response, but it will prevent the sub-frame stress cracking problem caused by the flex of the steering box. That's why the "Wonder Bar" is considered a must do upgrade on any third generation F-Body.

Its basically a sub-frame connector for the front sub-frame. I got one from TDS and it makes a huge difference in steering and handling. You will notice the change as soon as you start driving after you put it on.

Only the IROC was equipped with the Wonderbar--apparently because the 16-inch wheels caused stress cracking in the steering box area. That in itself, whether you're running 15 or 16's, is worth considering the Wonderbar. Personally, I doubt that you'll feel a difference.

That is why they call it a wonder bar because you wonder what it is suppose to do.

I got 16" Irocs on my car.. And the whole front end feels like its lifting off the ground when I take turns fast.. Would this prevent flex in the front end?

no, sounds like suspension issues. Subframes and strut bar, with good shocks and springs should help you out.
