i have a 1990 gta with srs and the steering wheel is loose up and down not left to right , i pulled on it as well and its tight , it has tilt do i need a steering column? if so are parts still avb to get ?

 

can't help ya there my 92 RS has some freeplay in a diagonal direction but thats if I'm trying to pull it down to show someone or if I'm pulling myself up out of the seat from leaning and slacking and then it only has about a 1/4in movement in it, not enough to really complain about, it doesn't flop around like my old s10 used to.

In it the steering shaft would literally pull straight out and have no function until I pushed it back in (I discovered this going about 65MPH in a SWB 4.3 s10 with no power steering) anyways a few days before I burnt the truck to the ground I just got it out of a shop for that issue, they replaced the bearings and it drove smoothly to it's firery death.

 

its an issue of safety it makes me nervous
