Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION!?

How much weight you want to reduce depends on how street legal or safe you want to keep the car. There are things like cutting out the crash bars from inside the doors to removing the bumpers from behind the plastic covers. Those can remove a lot of weight but offers no protection if in an accident.

If it's a track only car, remove everything not required for speed or track safety.

I just shaved a couple more pounds off my race car by swapping out the glass headlights for some plastic ones. Not a big saving but a few pounds here and there all add up.

Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION!?

Pull the carpet & either reinstall just basic carpet, with no padding, or have the interior Rhino Lined......Or just go bare!

Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION!?

now reading these posts... takes hours to get through these posts that are like 15 pages long getting a lot of good info tho... my car is a coupe so thats a good start... cruise control delete, no rear seats, no center console, no carpets(will put one in when i get funds) im thinking im gonna rip out the pass seat for a while... would 4th gen cloth seats be substantially less then leather or no? im still debating on losing the AC cause when i drive in the summer(which is the only time i drive it) its hot... but i have power trunk(broken), mirrors,Locks and windows, would like to make it all manual... dont wanna lose the sway bars cause im gonna start autocrossing, im thinking ill take out the steel front bumper and see if the plastic nose looks ok w/o it... i got aluminum heads comin, battery in the trunk, will get a FG hood when the money is right and i find a used one cheap, my wheels are 16" 97 t/a they feel alot lighter then stock when you carry em... oh yeah i got hooker 2055r's w/ SLP loud mouth exhaust from a 4th gen, think ill save weight when i put the 4th gen disc brake rear in (discs weigh less then drums!?) anyone wanna venture a guess as to the weight of the car?

I checked all of your settings, and they appear to be in order. If you are still failing to receive email notifications, shoot me a PM, and I will contact the Administrator to see whats up.

One thing...make sure TGOs address is in your Email address book, so the notifications are not detected as spam, and forwarded to that folder instead of your inbox. This usually corrects the problem.

Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION!?

No....The lack of Reply Notices from TGO has been a long, ongoing problem.

I very commonly get one, go in the thread & see that there are several other replies in there, that I never got a notice on.

And we're not the only 2 people. This has been brought up over & over, by many members. I've just gave up trying to do anything about it.

Thanks...I did not realize that, there were still some problems. I did have problems in the past, but not anymore.

Try getting DOUBLE!

I'll get notices, then once a week or so, I start getting repeat notices of the SAME ONES, from the past several days!

Replace the steel bumper with an aluminum bumper. I'll pulled mine off a 82 Z28 in the Junk Yard. I think they were optional on 82-84 cars. Or you could look in the classifieds or ebay. Just need to swap the egg crate impact absorber from the one on your car to the aluminum bumper. I also took the factory Fiberglass Hood.

Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION!?

The front bumper "support"? No.

A few months ago, my very front end got clipped & all the plastic grid stuff underneath busted pretty bad. When I changed the nose out, I took all the plastic stuff out, but left the steel bar there. Mine is a daily driver, so for safety reasons SOMETHING needs to be there to take an impact.

Besides.....I think the fog lights mount to that & I don't wanna ditch my fog lights.

Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION!?

ok cause i thought i could get rid of the metal the plastic doesnt weigh enough to make a difference and i could care less about saftey, if i cared about safety id do the speed limit

Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION!?

Neither the plastic grid nor the metal bar actually support the bumper cover, so visually? You'll be fine.

And yeah...No bumper bar, no fog light mounting place.

My bumper cover was busted on the very corner & I could look inside sideways. There was a good inch between them.
