Tire brand???
Ok, this have been discussed many time but often people are limiting choses because of money.
I have go buy new tires for my OEM 16 inch wheels. I dont use my 86 TA much, I like to have fun with it on weekend (but will probably use it less than 2000 miles per year). Therefore the tires should last many years for me and the price of the tires shouldnt matter that much
So it doesnt matter that much to me if the tire costs $100 or $200, I just want good tires (but more expensive doesnt alwais meen its better). The TA has ZZ383 engine (lot of torgue) so I will probably have some trouble getting that power to the ground. I dont think Drag Radials are the thing for me because I want also good performance in the turns.
The Tirerack recommends Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 and that tire looks really good on paper but what do you think?

A lot of people have good luck with the D3's, but in my opinion they give up too much dry traction for wet traction.
For your limited mileage I would look into the falken 615's. They are basically a R-compond race tire with a tread pattern that does well in the rain. They are "the" tire to have in the STS auto-x class that requires at least a 200 treadwear rating. They also have one of the best looking tread designs out there. They are actually pretty cheap to boot.

On Falken´s site I saw a chart and the biggest tire they have for 16 inch wheels are 225/50R16. I was thinking of more like 245-255. Those tires seem to be quality stuff though (and might give better traction than bigger tires from some other but look is also a factor...
