Paint for rear axle.
Just got done dropping the entire drive train on my second camaro and i want too clean up and repaint the rear axle. The last rear axle i did i just undercoated b/c it wasnt meant too be a show car this one i want it too look good but it needs too be durable bc i want too be able too powerwash it etc. Anyone know of some good black paint that would do the job? ive heard of this por-15 <not sure if thats right lol. Does it leave a smooth finish?

I use gloss black Epoxy paint from home depot on all my undercarrige and engine bays. Anywhere grease and dirt is a problem. Its strong paint and inexpensive. Very durable and protects things from rusting.

Im getting ready to do mine and i think im going to put tractor paint on or just regular black engine paint. Ive use the engine paint on some of my suspention and driveshaft and i like how it turned out.

I used 40grit on the bad stuff, a wire brush on every thing, an air blower to remove dust, Rust Neutralizer as primer and a few big old cans of black rust-oleum. I put 2 or 3 coats on every thing and 3 or 4 coats on the "bad" areas.
It's not going to look great unless you take the time to sand off all the rust.
Engine paint would be good to, I didn't think of that. It would be thicker.
It does look good. When you put it on a lift people will know you are hard core about your car. A Painted sway bar adds to the effect.
Hit the steel break lines with paint while your at it, some states won't let you pass inspection if they see rusty break lines.
The key with any paint will be to give it a good surface to stick to.
