Re: I HATE factory LCA's

yeah are a bitch sometimes!

try doing anything like that at a junkyard to get a rear end or something, they are usually real rusty.

so far I havent had any real bad ones, just a big hammer and a long punch gets them out.

soak them in wd-40 and pb blaster also.

Use a bigger hammer........ It's a lot less work.

I've taken several out of the bone yard this way.

Re: I HATE factory LCA's

at a junkyard i use a battery powered sawzall and just cut the LCAs and panhard bar/torque arm and brake lines and I'm on my way. Takes 5 minutes tops to cut through everything and then can finish it at home.

I PB blastered the rear I got at a JY a week before I took it out. The JYs around hear won't let you take in power tools.

Re: I HATE factory LCA's

Why wont they let you take in power tools?

Anyway, PB blaster and lots of heat. You already had to destroy the bushing, so heat should be too much of a problem. If you localize it on the bolt, it wont hurt the rest of the car. Then, take a nice impact wrench to it if you have one. Also, maybe extend your breaker bar by a bit. Before I bought my impact wrench, I used a 4ft tube slipped over my ratchet as a breaker bar. 90% of the time it worked, 10% it stripped the absolute crap out of the bolt head which resulted in new swear words being created lol.

I feel your pain though. At least you know that when you reassemble it, you wont have a problem with them again (I'm assuming you'll use glavanized bolts to minimize corrosion).

Re: I HATE factory LCA's

Ya there already off the axle. I had a propane torch but no propane in it lol =] And i have about a 3ft long breaker bar... and i snapped a kobalt socket wrench in half.... wich ive never in my life broken a kobalt tool before at least i get a new one for free. Ya i got a impact wrench dint help. Its all said and done now thou over all it wasnt too bad ive seen worse trying too get bumpers off a rusted chevelle.. i just hope i dont run into this on the front suspension when that comes out lol. Ya ill be usuing glavanized bolts all new suspension parts and hardware for this car dont plan on putting any of the old stuff back.

Krisb sucks they wont let you bring powertools into the jy ppl at the junkyard see me so often they let me drive my jeep back there with anything i need lol.

Re: I HATE factory LCA's

I think you'll have better luck with the front suspension. On my formula, the grease/dirt build up kept the water away from a lot of bolts haha. Good luck to ya though.
