Moog Enhanced Design Balljoint

Hello All,
I have been looking for balljoints for my Iroc and I had gotten part no. k6145 and I went online to buy them and noticed that in the special notes it said "enhanced design" also on the end of the part no. it has a "T". I would like to know if these are good to use or are these the oversized ones, I have seen oversized with a different part no. A copy of the link is below.

Re: Moog Enhanced Design Balljoint

I just checked into it myself and it just appears to be they redisigned the manufacturing technic making them more durable. I would say go with it. Was really nothing wrong with the 6145 in my opinion, I never had a problem, but would buy the 6145T now obviously because of upgraded technology.

I had a notorious problem on an older truck of mine where I wipe out ilder arms every two years and Moog has continually uppgraded them a few times over the years with different better versions, yet they still offer the original also.

Re: Moog Enhanced Design Balljoint

I used a Moog lower ball joint on my Drivers side. It didn't want to go in, it was .150" larger than the spot it was supposed to go in to. We ended up sanding it a bit, and pounding it in, but it took over 8 hours to install..

Hello Kevman,
Are talking about the balljoints I mentioned above or the oversized ones?
I think you might have picked up the oversized balljoints.

Oversized, but the enhanced might have the same problem.

Re: Moog Enhanced Design Balljoint

Kevman,
I will go to my local parts store and ask them to bring me both samples, that will help me decide which to order. I think the enhancement deals with the durability and strength of the part but that is just my opinion.
I will keep you guys updated.

Re: Moog Enhanced Design Balljoint

The new design has a better rubber grease cup that if over pressured with grease, has a channel that funnels it away from the brake side of the assy. Also is supposed to be stronger and with less flex. This according to a Moog rep. Also before installing ball joints into the a-arm, put them in your freezer overnite. Cold makes them contract a bit, making installation easier. Just did a complete rebuild on my 85 Iroc. Used all Moog steering and suspension parts and am very pleased with results.

Re: Moog Enhanced Design Balljoint

Thanks Badman for the tip, I also plan to update my front suspension and steering with nothing but Moog, like the saying goes, "you get what you pay for", holds a very true meaning. I already have the part numbers to everything except the balljoints, I'll compare them at an auto parts store to check if the balljoint is not bigger than the normal part number. thanks again.

I bought them and put them on a while ago when I redid my a-arm bushings also. I could not get the spring shimmed correctly in the can and the car was not sitting properly so I ended up pulling them and just putting some standard ones back in.

Something I really never mentioned. I was toying with trying to get my roll center up a tad and still using my springs I have. I wanted to reduce my front roll bar size and use my same springs. Did not work without height adjustment and I didn't have time to screw with it future because I needed to get it back up running and drivable for the wife at that time. I would love to have the time to get weight jackers on the front of this car so I could have better flexabilty on setup and ge those balljoints back in someday. I have way too many projects. Why I screw around on this site I could not tell you, I rarely touch the Camaro anymore other than routine maintinace for the wife. But I would love to have the time- these cars are so dam fun and worthy. My day is done tonight so I sit down and check my emails from customers and such, then I cklick on here to see whats up in between other things all night while I have to be on for other things. this crap is addictive and fun.
