rear springs

my car was originally a v-6 i was wondering if anyone knew if the rear springs on a v-6 are the same on a v-8, or will it be a good idea to get better springs? but i dont really want to drop the car.

Re: rear springs

No, they're not the same. Get the moog 5665/5662 springs for the front and rear.
They're the stock replacements for V8 Z's and T/A's, I believe they're rated around 650 for the front, 150 for the rear.

edit: Look a couple a posts below........ Stock spring rates.

Though I think the 5664 and 5662's rates are swiched, and the 5665's I believe are a little stiffer than advertised.

Re: rear springs

Assuming you have a couple jack stands and a jack the rear springs are cake. 10 minute job tops. Take the nut off each shock and lower the rear while watching not to stretch the rubber brake line. You will have room to spare. You can unbolt the T-block for the brake lines from the rear end if you need more slack. The springs will just fall out. Set the new ones in and jack it back up and bolt the shocks back to the rear end and you're done.

[oops misunderstood the post...it seems a lot of people don't like those cargo coils. You can get true stock replacement springs that will keep the car at stock ride height.]

Re: rear springs

I used this set on my Camaro:

http://spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1404

Here is a pic of the right height:

Maybe you could email them and see about buying just the rears? Shocks can also have something to do with this.
