subframe question

I was in a wreck last week and smashed up the front drivers side of my 84 camaro. I found out that the sub-frame is bent - pushed right about 1 1/2 inches. Can I replace the sub-frame itself or is my car dead?

Re: subframe question

Kev,
Front subfame (K-member) is completely replaceable. The K-member is positioned on the unibody frame with two alignment dowel pins. In an accident, the pins can rip the alignment hole in the unibody & make a mess. Depending on the extent of damage, you may need a body shop to do the frame repair. Or you may luck out & be able to swap it out. Looks like you got a trip to the bone yard in your future. If you get into the job & need some help let me know. I completed a swap last spring.
