Re: Strut tower brace on carb

In an e-mail over the summer, Steve Spohn said that he was developing STB's for carb for the fall. So far....

Re: Strut tower brace on carb

I got a 3 pt STB from a carb'd car, made for a TBI car, and put it on my wife's TBI. If fit fine on both cars.

Re: Strut tower brace on carb

It depends on which belt arrangement and AC compressor (lines) you have.

No, which is why I've been patiently waiting on Spohn.

Right: that's why the TBI one won't work.

Re: Strut tower brace on carb

i put an edelbrock stb ony my 83 t/a with no problems, but my a/c has been deleted and it came in contact with part of my wiper motor. a little clearancing and it fit well. and had no hood clearance problems either.

Re: Strut tower brace on carb

If someone were to go to the trouble of giving me exact measurements on this STB with carb and AC I could probably get a few made ( probably not many as its not my area of expertise). I work for a manufacturing company that has an extensive metals department. Also would need to know what size tubing would work best and of what metal type. Also don't make it too elaborate, keep it simple if possible.

Re: Strut tower brace on carb

I tired of waiting, so as part of the upgrade process, I swapped in a GM serpentine conversion kit, which, of course, allows for the Edelbrock brace.
