UMI Bolt On LCA Relocation Bracket = No No on a 9 bolt
Ok,
I tried installing these on my 87 GTA with a 9 bolt rear end, and halfway through it, I noticed that the LCA was nowhere near matching up to the lower holes on the bracket.
I called UMI and told them the problem, and ended up getting told that the bolt on versions dont fit 9 bolt rear ends.......
This sucks hardcore, I bought these with the intention of installing these myself then going to have them welded in somewhere.
If you have the STOCK 9 bolt rear end, these will not fit.

Glad to hear that now, I was looking at getting a set for my other 9 bolt under construction.

Re: UMI Bolt On LCA Relocation Bracket = No No on a 9 bolt
They fit just perfect on my 9 bolt.
Think about this. If ALL THIRDGEN Lower control arms are the same, which they are, then common sense geometry would tell you that the brackets/holes on 9 bolts and 10 bolts would have to be the same. That being the case, any relocation the UMI brackets provide would be the same, regardless of which rear you have.
Assuming your lower control arms and rear haven't changed, and the only NEW part is the UMI relo bracket, then either you're doing something wrong, or they shipped you the wrong part. I'm running almost 100% UMI under my car and EVERYTHING has fit perfectly.

Re: UMI Bolt On LCA Relocation Bracket = No No on a 9 bolt
It seems that the LCA mounts on 9 bolts differ a little over the years. I talked to UMI a few times last year about my 9 bolt issue. I put the UMI bolt on brackets on my 1989 GTA and had to take about 3/8" off of the bottom of the factory LCA bracket so that the LCA Bracket would slide up far enough. After talking to UMI about it, I decided to try the brackets on my 1988 GTA, fit perfectly! So I tried them on my spare 1989 9 bolt. No go! The driverside factory bracket is 3/8 longer when measured from the axle tubes on both of my 89s. The LCA mounting holes are in the same though.

Something to be said for model year differences. I've got a set of Spohn weld-ins on my 9 bolt and had a set on my old 10 bolt and they both went on exactly the same (10 bolt a '90, 9 bolt an '88). Maybe I'll stick with Spohn for the other 9 bolt.

Well,
Turns out, I had to end up cutting off the bolt on part of the bracket, after that, they went on perfectly just like a weld on set would, and yes, they are welded to the car.
Oh well.
