90/10 drag struts

90/10 drag struts
I just sold the KYB AGX struts off of my street strip car and now I need new ones. This car sees limited street time, driving to the track and some late night test and tune. Now do I put 90/10 drag struts on or not? I just put spohns pro drag coil over kit on and want this car to launch hard but still abill to drive ok on the street. How much will 90/10 drag struts really help me over like KYB AGX that are adjustable?

put them on and pull the front tires off the ground!!!! seriously they dont ride bad at all, stiff? yes too stiff? i dont think so.later jimmy

i daily drive 90/10's when i'm actually at home.. just a bit on the soft side and they lift the front end very easily.. get out of the hole, step on it and the front will almost fully extend.. just do it..

as long as you do everything smoothly then you'll be fine. No sharp turns, no quick braking, etc etc. It will feel very floaty like a 70s cadillac kinda.

i dont have my 90/10's on my camaro (yet) , but i can tell you that the kyb agx's suck for a straight line on my mustang. they dont do too bad on cornering though. the agx's even on light settings are nothing like the 90/10's. i have ridden in a car with 90/10's before and the front end picks up really well.

I was curious about the 90/10's myself. We took our car to the track for the first time last weekend after going through upgrades. Pulled the front tires about 6" off the ground but it come down hard (old factory struts and shocks). I talked to a guy that has about the same power as I do (10.40-10.50's) and he had the Lakewood 90/10 struts. He stood it on the bumper and said that it did not drive very well on the top end (felt sloppy). This kind of made me a little scared and thus I opted for the Lakewood 70/30 struts as they have less upward travel and the competition engeneering 3 way adjustable rear shocks. I am hoping to try her out again this weekend and will post my results.

I like that they(90/10) come up quick but do they drop fast to? I will do a little slow drivin around town and if I have to hit the brakes it is going to bottom out or nose dive? lets keep this post going As I need new shocks in the next 30days.

From what I am told they are made to come up fast thus putting all the load to the rear wheels and then they slowly come back down keeping the load on the rear wheels until max traction is not required. My only problem is that we are already pulling the front wheels off the ground with factory struts. I am afraid we will have a wheel stand with the 90/10's

I am still interested as well. I put Spohn drag coilovers up front on some 90/10 struts. The rear suspension is all aftermarket spohn and a moser 9 inch, but I have not driven it yet.

Do you have a coilover setup. Most cars that can do that easy do. And can then play with spring rate or shock adjustment. And are you a stock style suspension? Torque are angle and lower control arm angle (IC).

thats all i have ever run on my 92 Z28 is 90/10s (from day 1)1992
they are fine for street driving (for me anyway)
never had any probs with steering ever.. or bottoming out.
car od shows 54.000 now and now also has a all new front end by spohn.
run 50/50s in the back with south side bars

Interesting....I've been leaning towards 70/30 struts instead of the 90/10's because I drive mostly on the street, and the bold print at the bottom of the 90/10 strut ads warning that they are not for street use....

50/50 rear shocks are stock shocks. just get a new set. when you get the new 90/10s.
they say not for street use. just like alot of the drag tires say.
or the drag wheels say.
my 92 pulls the wheels.(1.49 60ft) drives on the street(summer car only) and is a lot of fun to drive.
set up for the 1/4 mile yes. drives on the street yes. thats what its all about for me.

and yes the feel is like a 70s caddy some times with dips.

Thanks for the info articwhiteZ - I kinda thought the 50/50 were regular shocks....I'm trying to set up my suspension over this winter. I got LCARBS the other day, a TQ arm relocation bracket today and shocks/struts are on the agenda too along with new strut mounts.
Early spring I'm getting wheels and tires, and a rear disc brake setup. I still want to be plenty streetable, but I need more traction badly. I'm hoping some of this stuff will help. Funny how I can find 90/10 struts cheaper than 70/30's....
