Will LCA relocation brackets help wheel hop?

Alright, the ony thing I've done to my rear suspension is: 1" V6 drop springs, KYB Gas-A-Just shocks, and 275/40/17 tires. I don't go doing burn outs or anything, but if I get on the gas at the right time going around a corner and the posi locks up, I get wheel hop. I've seen people saying LCA relocation brackets are needed for lowered cars, but I've only seen that they help traction but not if they do anything for wheel hop. So, do they do anything for wheel hop? Any other ideas for what is causing the wheel hop?

Re: Will LCA relocation brackets help wheel hop?

traction is sorta wheel hop related. i'd definately try relocation brackets for a lowered car.

but a posi shouldnt be locking up around turns, its suppose to be disengaged to allow the outer wheel to turn at a higher rate of speed than the inner wheel. If they were locked and turning the same speed, its possible wheel hop would occur. the inside tire would be forced to spin faster than it wants to. if it doesnt spin it will want to hop more than likely

Generally, yes.

Whether they'll fix your specific situation, who knows.

They SPECIFICALLY help wheel hop, by correctign the defective factory geometry these cars were born with, and that lowering makes worse.

The great thing about them is, you can put them on, see what they do, and if they don't do anything (or make it worse even), you can still put it back just like it was.

And of course, theyr'e cheep.

Give them a try. For wheel hop, they're the "silver bullet".

If they help, use only as much change from stock, as is required to clear up the hop. Odd things happen if you just set them to "max" but don't really need it. You can alter the geometry TOO FAR.

I've always heard that the after market lower control arms helped with wheel hop. Makes sense to me, but my tires always just spun (although they did hop in reverse one time ).

If you jab the gas while coasting through a turn, I would hope the posi would lock up! If not, then you would just roast the inside tire like my car does.

Relocation brackets are supposed to help, and I plan on getting the UMI bolt-on ones when I get the tubular LCA's and panhard rod.

In your case, worn out rubber bushings in the LCA's could also be contributing to the problem. Worn out shocks will supposedly make it hop more too.

well in that case it may lock up and send you spinning/sliding out as both tires spin. I know my car does that, but when just on the gas alittle, it shouldnt be locking

It doesn't lock when I'm just steady on the gas, I did mean like putting the pedal to the floor.

I would really love to get new tubular front a-arms too, but geez they're expensive and I need a set that will work with the factory k-member and with a tubular k-member for when I'm able to do the LS1 swap.

Re: Will LCA relocation brackets help wheel hop?

You shouldnt need new front A-arms really. Just new ball joints and poly bushings on the stock front LCA's would be great.

Those REAR LCA's you posted up look sweet. I had been planning on getting the Single Adjustable LCA's that UMI makes, just for the spherical rod end. Not for the adjustability.

Now, that ball-in-the-poly solution looks even better. I will have to keep that in mind!
