Running Dual Subframe Connectors

I've searched the boards and found no info.

Has anyone run both Alston style and Spohn style subframe connectors at the same time?

I believe the Spohn are perimeter and the Alston are placed more down the centerline. Most likely there would be small adjustments needed to run both.

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

Seriously no offense, but search harder.

This has been done many many many times.

I have read about it for at least a couple years now. There is almost no issues running both. Added weight, but def ties the car togeahter nicely.

I have hotchkis SFC and an an 8 point cage. SUPER rigid.

Cost, about $350 for eveything. self installed.

if your already plainng on runnig 2 sets why not run one and a cage.... its almost pointless to run 2 set of subframes

Because roll cages in street cars are dangerous(unless you want to wear a helmet and 6 point harness to go to the store).

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

I think he is obviously going for something more structural so the cage would be beneficial

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

Running two sets of SFCs is hardly pointless. Especially since the two particular sets mentioned work in two different areas. The more reinforcement you give to the unibody the better. My car had spohn bars and they were great with my TPI setup...but the LS1 set up was causing some body movement

Plus...a cage isnt that great for the street. If he's running the car on the street 95% of the time, whats the point of a cage? Plus, cant put people/kids in the back seat with a cage, and it makes working on the interior a bit of a pain. Cages are for people that are running quick enough to get kicked out of the track without one. Chassis reinforcement is for street cars that need some stiffening.

Just my $.02....

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

anybody have pics of the alstons along side the spohns? cant really find a good one of the alstons installed especially in the front of the car. any pics would be helpful if you have them. the underside of my car looks like it has been dragged and banged up pretty good and i'm having a tough time lining up the front driver side sfc.

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

yes i wanna see pics of this dual subframing.

i installed my own design of thru floor subframe of 2"x2" square steel tubing i think it was .095" thickness and i cut into the front and rear subframe as well as the floor and ran it right into them and welded it completly. really stiffened up the car but i just also installed a 6pt comp engineering cage but i want to run a 1"x1"x.095" thick perimeter subfram just to tie it up alil better. i havent driven the car with the 6pt cage yet since the car is just a shell. car will be a daily driver too

how about 2 sets of subframes inboard and perimeter and a cage!!! plus cages just look badass. sports cars dont need passengers ;P

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

hmm i see i see. i was thinking of the jegsters but there just alil too pricey for me...

i have the same exhaust but mines 3" mandrel bent... i had crush bent pipes like yours before my new setup and the mandrel made a huge diff.

also did u notice a diff with the jegster tq arm? i just intalled mine but its the non adjustable one. bolted mine to my 6 pt cage too to stiffen that up :P

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

MaNiAk86,

Can u post up some more pictures of ur torq arm ? looks like thats the way to go to run tru duals with a X-pipe......I am asuming that exhaust setup is not possible with stock torq arms or any other aftermarket Torq arms

Thanks

Re: Running Dual Subframe Connectors

its just a jegster tunnel mount adj. tq arm i bought used off a fellow member here. i think any tunnel mounted setup should leave some room to run an x after the trans x-member
