Re: koni/Bilstein.shocks
I have read all there is on this site about them.. But, I wish someone could give me some 1st hand exp. with these..I will be using them for a little road racing, a little track, and mostly street driving..I have had the koni on my SVO but once i adjusted them a few time's. I never needed to adjust them again. The Ford lighting comes with the Bilstein as does the Syclone. I was told that they offer the same handling as the koni BUT with a better ride more comfortable. What do you think?

Re: koni/Bilstein.shocks
I used the Bilstein when I did my front end rebuild. All things considered, they are much better than stock. Konis, however are adjustable. Cost is also a factor. Just have to do a search on the net, find the cheapest price.

Re: koni/Bilstein.shocks
Koni and Bilstein both make good shocks. I have yellow koni's on my camaro and I put Bilstein HD's on my dads truck. Obviously totally different applications. I wish I had put the Bilsteins on my truck instead of the junk Monroe's
What you pick depends slightly one your intended spring rates. I've heard that the rear Bilsteins off the shelf might not be best if you are running higher rate rear springs.
I haven't heard much about the front struts for a 3rd gen.
But since you say that you plan on doing many different things with your car I would recommend the Yellow Koni Sports. You can turn down the damping for a smooth ride on the street, and crank them up for the track.

Hotpart.com has the best price on Koni Yellows that I have seen. Plus, I think they offer free shipping.

Re: koni/Bilstein.shocks
I have Koni yellow's on a DD, not a single complaint.
EDIT: They do not ride to harsh. I do have the rears on the softest setting, fronts 1 turn from full soft. Now if you crank the fronts and rears, yes it is too harsh for roads. But that's why I bought them, so I can adjust them.

Re: koni/Bilstein.shocks
i did some more looking into the difference between the two, and it looks like the bilstein ride better on a day to day car, and the koni are a harsher ride, So on a bumpy road or street road the Bilstein should ride better, and handle better because they rebound quicker making the car a more stable over the road, The koni should perform better on a smoth road as there damping ability is slower, but they can be ajusted for the track/road your driving..they also put bilstein on the police tahoe..but im not sure what cars come with them?

I will say that when I have my Koni's on full soft the car rides better than it did with the old Gabriels fronts and original 130k mile rears.

Re: koni/Bilstein.shocks
Bilstein is probably the better choice for a car that will see more street time than track time - which means most cars so you've likely picked the best ones for your application.
The only reason my car gets driven on the road is because I have nowhere to store a trailer for hauling it to the track..lol
